Golden Star

"My sister and I just stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was wonderful. We were given a front-facing room on the top floor which had the most gorgeous views over the rooftops and cobbled streets. It was especially lovely at night with all the street lights and at sunrise. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was a deluxe double and it was very clean and modern with the most comfortable bed and fluffy pillows. We were given a glass of Prosecco on arrival and there was also a complimentary bottle of red wine in our room - a very nice touch! Location wise, it’s literally 2 mins walk up a slope to the Prague Castle so very convenient. Don’t be put off by the steep climb down to the town. As long as you wear sensible shoes, you can navigate the cobbled streets. Once you get down to the bottom, you can walk to Charles Bridge within 15 mins. Coming back up though is another matter. We took Uber which was very cheap (only £3.65 from the pier all the way to the hotel!) but you could also take the no. 22 Tram back to the very top and then walk down about 500 metres. Breakfast was superb with a good selection of continental meat (hot and cold) and the creamiest scrambled eggs I’ve ever had. Lots of fresh fruit, yoghurt etc and choice of pastries and bread (including gluten free). Very large range of teas and coffee. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Prague."

"The staff of Golden Star are all friendly and professional. It’s a really nice hotel arranged over four floors. We stayed in room 25 which is enormous and has fabulous views down the hill and over Mala Strana and then in room 12 at short notice when our flight was cancelled. The staff were very kind and helpful when we needed their assistance. The rooms are all well appointed and very comfortable with good amenities. Two sets of windows really helps to dampen any noise from the street but it is quite a quiet part of town in the evening. Breakfast is excellent and varied. If you email them and they have capacity you can upgrade your room and they will also organise little treats. Jana and her colleague on the desk are delightful. Do make sure you eat in the restaurant where you will get the warmest welcome and great food. Top tip - if you don’t fancy the steep walk up the hill after a day of sightseeing, catch the 22 tram up to the castle and take the easy walk through the grounds and down the hill to the hotel."
