"Returned from a week at the Aqua Mirage Marrakech hotel at the beginning of June. Travelled with my partner, my 2 children and her 2 children staying in 2 rooms. We stayed Tuesday - Tuesday
The holiday was incredible and the hotel has some great points, however, an incident at the end of the week ruined what was a fantastic holiday.
I’ll start with the good points:
- The hotel rooms were clean, spacious and we were put on 2 rooms next to each other
- The aqua park was amazing, everyone loved it, the slides were incredible and we visited it almost daily
- The food was excellent, some of the reviews may say otherwise but we all found the food great
- Entertainment staff were fantastic, my son went to football daily and all of the entertainment team were cheerful, helpful and focused on the kids
The points that could be improved:
- The restaurant needs booking and has to be booked early, it was my birthday and they couldn’t fit us in so we missed out. You aren’t made aware of the need to book on check in
- You’ll queue a lot… The bars were busy and there was only 1 member of staff serving every day and night.
- The snack bar was poor. It was the worst food of the week, go elsewhere as there’s bees/wasps everywhere because the tables weren’t cleared quick enough
The worst part… Early in the week I took some cash out at the ATM out the front of the hotel. I left my wallet in the front zip compartment of my backpack in the room while we were at the pool. Early in the week, I checked and thought there was money missing but assumed I had miscounted. I then checked each night what I had remaining. On the Saturday evening I checked my wallet and saw I had 850dhm left, again I left my bag in my room on Sunday morning (along with my Garmin watch, my daughters Apple Watch, iPads and sons Switch) and went to the aqua park. On our return, I checked my wallet and saw that I only had 650dhm in my wallet. My bag was on the desk with items placed on top of it. I complained to guest services and was asked to write a full statement and they would investigate. Unfortunately, I noted the room number down incorrectly (putting my partners room) but as the rooms were next to each other the camera that was directly outside my room would have covered both. I corrected the room number the next morning with guest services.
I was told they would investigate the cameras and let me know. The next morning (Monday) we had planned to go into the desert and I noticed my Garmin watch was missing. I wasn’t wearing it as it had ran out of charge and had left it on the desk with the other bits. Again, I went down to guest services which was closed. As we were on an excursion to the desert I could only report it to guest services at 10:30pm when we returned, which I did. I was told to report it to the police if I wanted, but as we were flying home the next morning and it was 11pm at night, it felt pointless.
I emailed the hotel around a week after I returned asking for an update and essentially got fobbed off and told as I didn’t report it they couldn’t do anything about it.
In short, I went to Morocco with a watch that I use for running and returned without it because someone gained access to my room, rifled through my belongings and took money and a watch from a locked room.
Go there if you want but make sure nothing of value is left in the room. Such a shame as besides that incident we had a great time."
