"Was little worried choosing to stay in the deep South of Sicily, however after doing a bit of research and contacting the hotel directly, the East Coast highlights and a few more are still accesible via the Hotel. (Via a local agency, offering 8 Seater Small group Tours, and at 'reasonable prices' considering they are almost 'private type' small group tours). So we opted to stay in this hotel as the price was perfect and so was the Airport. (We usually travel from Newcastle so opted for Edinburgh).
Rooms are very comfortable, clean and well maintained (less for the balcony - see below - the views from the balcony were amazing though, we were in room 257 overlooking the gardens). The Swimming Pool at the Acacia Palace is immaculate with lush green well tendered lawns. (Even at the Acacia Marina, which Guests go between the 2, however of course with the pool at the Palace side being Adults Only, it is of course more blissful - we found it got a little busy after 09.00am however quickly found that reserving sunbed just before breakfast is perfectly acceptable).
The food in the hotel was plentiful. We have stayed at 4 stars in other parts of Italy and the choice here (as expected) was perfect at both Breakfast (with egg station) and Dinner (With pasta / specialty station - Deserts were amazing).
The Restaurant Staff were excellent, with a special mention to 'Alberto' and 'Vanesa', always smiling and went out of their way to always help. The other staff did too, however apologies these are the 2 we remember who we really interacted with daily.
Reception Staff are very approachable, always smiling with a special mention again to 'Laura' and 'Dario' who sorted us out with the 3 tours we did to Tarmina and Monunt Etna (on a Full Day), Noto (Half Day), and Ancient Nepolis (Syracuse) and Ortiga Island (For another Full Day). The main resort square takes around 10 mins to walk too, however there are a few small eateries for during the day which you can't miss whilst walking there (Very Good) and a few bars etc.
We are not beach lovers however I did dip my toes in one day and the beach was very clean and warm. (The Italian Beaches are always pristine I find).
The Supermarket (4 mins walk away - taking a right outside of the hotel) is also very well stocked with cheap eats and wines, beers etc. (Very good value for your pre-dinner Balcony Wine we thought).
The only 3 drawbacks if we were to nit pick (Which you may find it hard to find - please dont let them put you off too much).
1. The Reception / Restaurant Lunchtime meal we had on arrival was erm... lets say not the best, and it was a tad overpriced.
2. There is a 2Euro Per Person service charge if you choose for the waiter to get you drinks around the pool (So your 3 Euro water can cost you 5 Euro for example) .
3. The Balcony could have done with a lick of paint.
Despite this, it is a great hotel and we had an amazing 10 Nts Half Board here to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. So I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone considering Sicily."
