"Just returned from a week at the Bisaccia. We loved the holiday. I read a few of the negative comments on TA before going but found all of them to be inaccurate.
August is peak month and the resort was busy at times but at no time did this make getting sunbeds at the beach and pool an issue. The heat was the toughest part of the holiday. Consistently in mid thirties and at night was only a few degrees lower. Hot!
Location
45 min transfer, hotel is on its own penisula and so very low traffic or foot fall. Amazin beach with sand and gentle shallow shore, 2 other beaches within the hotel gardens. I used the far one for snorkelling every morning.
Hotel
Good quality 4 star, the room we had (107) was very clean and well presented, bathroom was clean and shower was good. Aircon was good and room clean every day before lunch.
Main areas of the hotel are spotless and relaxing, dinning room is comfortable and so are the pool and bar areas. We enjoyed the gardens and spent many an afternoon snoozing in the shade of a tree.
Atmosphere
There were couples, family groups and some children at the hotel. It was very relaxing and not designed for Kids but they seemed to enjoy the beach and pool. very much a general mix of ages, nationalities etc.
We thought it was ideal for couples as the Sunset is Amazing from the terrace and we loved having drinks watching it every night.
Food and Drink
My wife and I are food and wine lovers. Breakfast, lunch and Dinner was good.
There was a huge variety for breakfast, fresh eggs/omellte cooks (x2), cereals, fruit, dairy, cooked selection, continetal meats and cheese as well as a whole table fo cakes. Amazing bees honeycomb for you to get the freshest honey. MY favourite little lemon donuts!
Lunch was on the pool bar, simple menu but really tasty. It is very italian driven but still pizza and burger on there. I ended up having pasta and pesto 4 times, so good!!! We were half board so chargeable
Dinner on HB was 4 course. at least 3 choices for each course. Some Vegeterian and some meat, lots of tradisional Italian and Sardian dishes and lots of fish!!!! My wife is quite fussy and her only complaint was there is too much food! I cant eat that much
Wine selection is focused on Sardian wine but there are some award winners on the list. We had White and rose mostly due to the heat.
(Special thanks to Tania she really knew her wine and helped me explore some new dishes that were amazing.)
Evening drinks were at the pol bar with a charming (If a little quirky) piano player (Franco). Did not overwhelm the atmosphere but not a heavy night life.
(Special thanks to Fabio and Marco - Charming, friendly and a bit of fun)
If you want more of a buzz there are a few bars in the resort about 5-10 minute stroll along the beach promenade. And if you really want to go all out Phi Beach is a beach club but can cost a bit.
Value
This is not a cheap hotel and drinks and food are on par with London city prices. But I did not feel like we were overcharged. I did realise the whisky I drank for the first two nights was 25Euro each so moved onto cocktails for 13euros. but that was my error.
We spen just over £1500Euros on lunch, drinks and extras. and we had wine every night, drinks before and after dinner as well as with lunch. Also a few other extras
Final comments
If you want the front two ros at the beach, book with the hotel direct early. we tried to book about a week out and no luck. we still had sunbeds and umbrellas every day but was a little further back. Not a big issue
In August it is really hot! we are happy in the sun but had to stay out of it between 12 and 3pm. (Nice long lunch!)
This hotel and resort is not perfect but it is not a 5 star. We have stayed in hotels across the whole of Italy and rate this as excellent. We found the people warm and friendly (Learn some Italian or a translation app). We would go back but in a cooler period.
We did not explore outside the hotel and the resort, we look forward to coming back to Sardinia and hiring a car.
Thanks Bisaccia - Hotel and Staff are wonderful"
