"We recently stayed at this hotel and, while there were some positives, there were several aspects that would make us unlikely to return.
The location is undoubtedly convenient for the train station and public transport. However, we found the surrounding area to be very run down, dirty, and affected by significant littering and fly-tipping. There also appeared to be a high level of homelessness, and the area felt unsafe, particularly in the evenings. I appreciate this is not the hotel's fault, but location plays a major role in the overall experience. It's also worth noting that although the metro is nearby and frequent, it stops around 11pm, meaning trips back from areas such as Lungomare or Chiaia often involve either a long walk or an expensive taxi journey.
The room itself was spacious, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Air conditioning was excellent, the shower pressure was good, and noise was less of an issue than some reviews suggest. However, the room felt quite basic. Complimentary water and a small fridge would have made a big difference. We were also told shower gel would be provided, but the same bottle labelled "shampoo" appeared to be used for both showering and handwashing. There were some maintenance and housekeeping concerns too, including a slow-draining shower, unpleasant drain smells, a cigarette smell on arrival, and one day when our room was not serviced.
Breakfast was adequate but quite basic compared to other 3-star hotels. We found the non-self-service approach a little uncomfortable, as portions seemed restricted and guests had to repeatedly ask for more. Some staff also appeared less than enthusiastic about serving guests.
Given the hotel's location and fairly basic amenities, we were surprised by the prices of food and drinks in the bar and restaurant, which felt more in line with a higher-end hotel.
Reception staff were friendly, but little information was offered at check-in, so we had to ask about breakfast, facilities, and how everything worked. We were also not informed in advance that the city tax had to be paid in cash, resulting in an unnecessary ATM withdrawal fee.
The free Wi-Fi was appreciated but was inconsistent, frequently slowing down or disconnecting altogether.
Overall, there were some positives, particularly the comfortable beds, clean rooms, air conditioning, and transport links. However, the location, basic facilities, housekeeping issues, breakfast experience, and lack of attention to smaller guest comforts mean we would not choose to stay here again. This review reflects our genuine experience and is intended as constructive feedback. A few simple improvements, such as complimentary water, clearer communication before arrival, and a more guest-focused approach, could significantly enhance the overall stay."
