"⭐ 1/5 — The view is beautiful, but you absolutely do NOT need to stay here to get it.
Let me start with the one positive: yes, the view is beautiful. But please do not book this hotel thinking this is some exclusive view that you can only experience by staying here. This is Oia, Santorini. Walk along the main streets of Oia and you will see absolutely breathtaking caldera views everywhere. There are countless hotels, restaurants, terraces, and public areas with incredible views. Oia is beautiful — that does not automatically make this a good hotel.
Once you take the view away, I genuinely do not understand the hype or the price.
And yes, you are getting a “hot tub,” but PLEASE understand what that actually means before booking. This is not some luxurious, romantic, private hot-tub experience like the photos may make you imagine. Your hot tub is basically out in the open. The guests next door can literally be sitting in their hot tub about a foot away from you, looking directly at you while you are sitting in yours. On top of that, other guests and people walking through the property can pass right by and see you. There is essentially no privacy. So yes, technically you have a hot tub — just know that you may be enjoying it with your neighbors sitting right beside you and random people walking past. If privacy or romance is important to you, especially for a honeymoon or anniversary, this is something you NEED to know.
Also, be prepared for an exhausting amount of stairs. You have to go far down steep, uneven stone steps to reach the property. Forget about comfortably wearing heels. What was even more uncomfortable was watching the workers carry enormous suitcases up and down these stairs. They were visibly drenched in sweat from how physically demanding it was. We are talking dozens of steep steps while carrying guests’ luggage. It was honestly difficult to watch, and the hotel should have a better system in place.
The rooms are another example of something that photographs MUCH better than it actually looks. Yes, the cave concept looks beautiful in pictures. In person, once you actually look around, everything feels extremely old, worn, and poorly maintained. Things look like they are falling apart. It did not feel remotely as luxurious as the photos make it appear.
And the breakfast? A complete joke.
You have to order it the night before and have it delivered. Order chicken sausage and you basically receive half of ONE sausage chopped into three tiny pieces. Ask for avocado and you get approximately a quarter of an avocado. The orange juice tasted like packaged juice rather than fresh juice like we received elsewhere. The portions and overall quality felt incredibly cheap and low-tier for a hotel charging these prices.
But the worst part was the service.
Hospitality was practically nonexistent. We would specifically request breakfast at a certain time and they would show up around 45 minutes EARLY. If you planned on sleeping in, too bad — you’re getting woken up. Why ask guests to choose a breakfast time if you’re going to completely disregard it?
Even simple requests felt like an inconvenience. There was very little flexibility or genuine effort to accommodate us. We were celebrating a special occasion, and while nobody expects free things simply because they’re celebrating something, basic warmth and hospitality go a long way. Compared with other places we stayed in Greece, the difference was shocking.
Communication through WhatsApp was equally frustrating. It genuinely felt like communicating with a copy-and-paste ChatGPT bot rather than an actual person listening to what you were saying. You explain a very specific concern and receive a long, generic, polished response that doesn’t actually resolve anything. There was nothing personal about the communication or service.
For the price and the way this property presents itself online, I expected MUCH better.
Do not confuse the beauty of Oia with the quality of this hotel. Oia provides the scenery. You can literally walk along the main streets and experience spectacular views without staying here. Choose another hotel in Oia, enjoy the same gorgeous surroundings, and hopefully get better accommodations, better breakfast, actual privacy, and genuine hospitality.
The Santorini view gets five stars. The hotel gets one."
