"We stayed at this wonderful hotel for 18 nights (half board basis) and loved it. So many good things to say, but what made it stand out for us was the amazing staff. They are ALL wonderful - friendly, helpful and welcoming, but a few deserve special mentions for going 'above and beyond' to make our stay extra special. RESTAURANT: Stella is a superstar, she made us feel welcome from our very first day and throughout our holiday; supported by excellent staff, especially Petros who was always very friendly. Linda (who did the show cooking) was also amazing, and we looked forward to her beautiful welcoming smile every evening (very delicious food too). RECEPTION: All reception staff were good, Efi and Petros in particular were very helpful during our stay. BAR: Jimmi is the star of the show, always happy, welcoming and makes great cocktails. HOUSEKEEPING: Mapia/Maria brightened our day every morning with a big smile and a cheerful 'kalimera'. Mrs S has a birthday during our stay - Jimmi made her a 'special' cocktail, Stella, Linda & Petros sang happy birthday at dinner and presented her with a lovely heart shaped dessert and Maria made the room up with towels in the shape of a heart and swans - such amazing staff, the best we've ever known. EVA, the hotel manager was very welcoming to us too and we had great pleasure in speaking with her before we left to let her know how wonderful everything and everyone was during our stay. She is quite rightly very proud of her staff, including all those behind the scenes that work tirelessly to give the guests a wonderful holiday. THE HOTEL: Completely spotless throughout, great food with a good variety for both breakfast and evening meal. We were there for 18 days, so of course there were some repetitive dishes, but there was always plenty of choice. Fish Night, Lamb and the Belly Pork were stand out favourites for us. The rooms were big (we had a studio), very comfortable beds, small kitchenette, we only used the kettle and the fridge, but there was a hob if needed and some basic utensils. Lovely reception area with comfortable chairs. A choice of 2 great pools to choose from, we preferred the one further back from the main bar area, just because it was a bit quieter, but they were both very good. The gardens are beautifully kept with roses, honeysuckle and lots of other flowers in full bloom when we were there. ENTERTAINMENT: The hotel entertainment wasn't really to our taste (karaoke, impressionist singer & magician), but they were well received by many other guests. Just out of the hotel, turn left, there is a great little bar called Teachers that has live music Monday & Friday nights. And an excellent 'Greek Night' on a Monday (6.30pm) at La Bella Victoria Hotel in Platanias, with our very own Stella singing and Greek dancing that is an absolute must to join in with (great fun). LOCATION: Quiet area, which we loved, the beach is just across the road. Our room was away from the road so no traffic noise. Not far along the coast (walking 40 mins or bus) to livelier places such as Agia Marina & Platanias. Great local bus service for exploring along the coast. OUT and ABOUT: We used the bus to visit Chania (an absolute must visit) twice, Kolymbari and a little further afield to Rethymno. The Little Fun Train is great, lots of half day trips to choose from, we did '7 villages' which was very good. Full day trips, highly recommend using Kyriakakis Travel, we went to Elafonissi Beach and Balos & Gramvousa with them, excellent service and cheaper than the same trips offered by Jet2. Hotel Reception can provide you with the local bus timetable and they book the little fun train and Kyriakakis tours for you (leaflets in reception). This is a long review for good reason, so much great information to share that we hope it helps you to choose the Creta Palm Resort, we loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for superb Cretan/Greek hospitality, great food, comfortable rooms and a nice quiet location, but in easy reach of other areas along the coast. Oh, and last but not least, if you like cats, there are a lot of them in Crete and the hotel has it's very own feline family."
