"We booked a 14 night stay for a family of 4 with Jet2 staying 11/08/26 - 25/08/26.
Check in 🔑 - 40 minute wait checking in and then a further 20 minutes at the desk completing information they should already have. We were then told we had to go to another reception, carting all our luggage round, to complete check in and get our room key so the entire process took over an hour.
Room 🛏 - We had a quadruple groundfloor garden view room which we was allocated in the French Side of the hotel. This consisted of 2 single beds pushed together and bunkbeds. Plenty of storage and hangers, a safe for which there was no charge, a fridge and a kettle. Bathroom however was very small, no bath and just a shower which was tiny, wallmounted hairdryer was also included. Plenty of hand-wash, shampoo and conditioner included. Room was in G block at the back and the balcony opened onto the back of the resorts road used for transporting and collection of hotel linen and goods.
There were plenty of towels as well as the provision of beach towels that can be exchanged whenever you wanted at the Spa. Room was cleaned very well daily by the same cleaner and fresh towels provided when you indicated you needed these.
Restaurant 🍝 - Fairly good wide variety of food, if you are a very fussy beige eater you may be a little dissapointed as nuggets are off the menu 😂 and pizza is only available at the snack bar in the day time. You do have plain pasta, sauce, chips and bread as your saviour if you fancy eating that for the entirety of your stay. There is actually 2 sides to the restaurant and you can walk between the 2, both serve the exact same things. Breakfast was also good with the usual offering of cooked, fruits and yogurts, cheese and pancakes.
We never went in for lunch as the daily snack bars were enough for what we wanted.
There is a beach restaurant this is much smaller and the selection is more limited to that of the main restaurant; we only ate in there once.
In addition to your soft drinks, the only available juices are orange, pineapple and grape which are all highly concentrated and need watering down to be palatable.
Pools 🏊♀️ - 5 pools in total; central pool, chloe pool, round pool, rectangle pool and kids pool. The central pool which included the slides is not big enough to accommodate the amount of people surrounding it as well as the space required to allow people to exit the slides safely without hurting themselves or anyone else. Activities were also done in the shallower section of this pool which reduced the general swim area even further when these were going on. Music around the pool was very loud and can be heard from the beach, we do enjoy music around the pool but this was very loud and the animation guy in the hut was on his little decks like he was DJing in Ushuaia 💿🎧.
Chloe pool was much nicer and more stringent with pool rules and etiquette and no jumping was allowed.
Round pool and the rectangular pools had much deeper sides than others and are located in the French side of the hotel, all activities here were solely communicated in French where as the other pools were communicated in multiple languages.
Kids pool located behind the French Kids Club, we didnt have any need for this but it consisted of some smaller slides.
Sunbeds ☀️- Where to begin!
First morning, we got up, had breakfast and went to get some sunbeds. Round pool and rectangular pool were our closest and there were no available beds there, went over to Chloe Pool, none there either. Central pool, zilch. After having a good look around we managed to cobble together a couple of beds on the grass near the table tennis area and we made do there. We quickly realised that if you wasn't up at the crack of dawn to get sunbeds then the likelihood of you getting anything with a little shade or an adequate number of beds for your party(not even for every party member) then you'd be sat in the sun on towels or on chairs which we did and also witnessed plenty of families having to do. There is supposed to be a policy enforced where towels can be removed if the occupants have not been present for a set period of time, this was flouted often with people reserving sunbeds first thing and disappearing for hours or not turning up at all. My partner actually got up one morning to try and get some sunbeds and witnessed someone reserving beds by the central pool and then on the beach using their hotel supplied beach towels as additional means to reserve more sunbeds.
One family in particular who are admins of the Friends of Canvas by Mitsis Messonghi Beach (Moraitika, Corfu) Facebook group, had the same sunbeds reserved next to the hut at the central pool everyday and very often flouted this rule to go and complete their various activities inside and outside the hotel. They had additional people join them later in their stay so their reserved area grew considerably.
A lot of the sunbeds are also broken and dangerous; bars snapped, screws loose and hanging out and no screws at all. We had to complain to reception and was advised a technician would come and have a look, 20 minutes later he arrived and brought a stack of beds with him and just dumped them near the pool for people to get. When asked if he wanted the broken beds he said no and walked away - the same broken beds were still at the round pool a couple of days later!
Bars 🍹 - French bar, Chloe bar, Beach bar, Main bar, River bar. There is a huge issue with bar staffing, they either need to employ more people or have those that wonder around behind the bar whilst other staff members are swamped actually serving. 90% of the time there were huge queues at the bars wherever you went with the main and beach bars the worst ones. Not uncommon to be waiting 20 minutes to get served and that is with multiple lines in the main bar, we made comments about this after they emailed asking how our stay was going so far and had a card put under our door asking us to go to reception to talk about this. When we attended and reiterated our comments about the bar waiting times they had no clue about the card under our door and said they are aware and are addressing the situation in the "next few days", it didn't improve and the beach and main bars seemed to get even worse.
Offerings at the bars were the usual spirits with mixers, beer which was quite weak and often flat and a selection of cocktails 🍸. You can usually find at least one cocktail that is drinkable however we did not; the lemon cello spritz was only OK and the syrups they use to make the other cocktails were very sweet and made them quite unpleasant.
Snack bars 🍕- Pizza and pasta, river bar, panini bar. Again can be waiting a while sometimes but the guys that work here work hard and try and get you served as quickly as possible. Margarita pizza, special pizza and vegetarian. Pasta was seafood, pesto, basil, Alfredo and you can also get salads here.
Panini bar had variety of offerings on different days, hotdogs, tacos, hamburger, pulled pork amongst others.
River bar also had a variety of offerings and it was much easier here to taylor to your liking.
Shops 🛒 - There is a Mini Market on site as well as some other little stores dotted around the main outside area offering a selection of items although the Plaza in Massonghi was much better value and had everything all in one place.
Beach ⛱️ - Lovely beach and if you can get sunbeds, bonus. This is quite rocky and pebbly so beach shoes are a benefit. You can also still stand up in the sea quite far out. Messonghi watersports is also on site offering kayaks, pedalos, speedboat 🚤 donuts. Pedalo hire for 1 hour was €25.
When we booked this we were well aware this is high season but it's evident they are not equipped to deal with that many people and would advise against going in July and August. Not sure it should be classed as 4 Star hotel as the facilities, service and finish are just not there."
