"***NOT AIR CONDITIONED - DO NOT STAY HERE DURING SPRING/SUMMER***
Currently staying at the Ruby Luna Hotel, room 612.
Im here for business for 2 nights, thankfully not doing a full week and if I was here on holiday I'd be so angry because it would make every day awful.
Hotels have 1 job, provide a comfortable room to sleep in. It can be rubbish at everything else, you probably don't spend a lot of time in the room apart from sleep. So when a hotel fails to provide a comfortable sleep it becomes useless.
My experience so far:
Check-in: Self check-in was easy and simple.
Hiotel/General: Signage is awful.
On the ground floor there are 3 lifts, you'll miss the 3rd as it's set back around the side of the other lifts.
When you get to your floor and exit the lift there is no signage directing you where to go.
As it was night when I arrived i tried opening a full height window to the outside! I couldn't see anything outside because it was just reflecting everything inside. Thankfully it was locked or I would have walked straight out of a 6th floor window.
I go back to the lift and again, set back in an alcove and looking like a fire exit with no signage.
You go through that door, you're met with another door, again no signage.
You go through that door and you're in a little glass oven where you scan your room card.
You go through the glass oven and you're now on a corridor with a T junction, at last, some signage!
I'm 612...
Go back to the glass oven to see if I took a wrong turn somewhere and realise I can use the Escape and Rescue Floorplan. See that my room is down the 606 - 607 corridor, they just failed on the only signage they actually providing.
Room: Open my room, there is a card already in the activation slot, lights and aircon on already on...
If was 28c in Dusseldorf today, currently around 25c at 23:00, the room has some strange air conditioning control that is either +3c or -3c, doesn't say what it's actually doing but thats your only options.
The a/c unit in the wall is doing something but it's so weak its probably generating more heat than cooling.
If you stand directly in front of it it is definitely cooler air than the rest of the room, so if you can sleep stood up in front of it or fit yourself on the small window sill you might get a good night's sleep.
Assuming they "pre-cooled" the room for 2hours before I arrived, I feel like it was probably longer as check-in is at 15:00, it's now been on for 4hours, it's definitely cooler than the corridor and the glass oven but it's still an awful hot room.
Also, if you change the fan settings to High it reverts back to Auto (Low) after an hour...
Music: The small Marshall speaker works, there are no instructions on how to pair a Bluetooth device but you just press and hold the pair button and it will enter pairing mode.
The big Marshall speaker requires a phone with a 3.5mm jack. The info tag on the label says you can borrow a guitar from the bar.
Minibar: No mini-bar, they probably decided that it's best not to add anymore heat to these rooms when the can't cool them properly. Having no mini-fridge means you can't keep drinks or chocolate cold in the room.
Wardrobe: room for 50 pieces of clothing, 3 shirt hangers, 3 pants hangers provided.
TV: The TV has no wireless connectivity options
You can reach 1 of the HDMI ports and the Source on the remote isn't locked down so you can use it.
Rest of the remote is locked down.
TV Guide doesn't load correctly.
Conclusion: I've read other people's reviews on here with the same complaints about how hot the rooms are. The staff couldn't do anything, they changed rooms and obviously nothing changed.
I imagine the Staff have training specifically on this "If a customer complains, pretend to try and change the settings on the control panel, obviously that's not going to anything but that's 1 night down, then change their room that's another night down or the customer won't bother changing rooms and then it's not our fault, etc.etc."
It's not fair on the staff that they have to deal with the fallout of a management decision.
Maybe this hotel is good in the winter or autumn but I doubt it."
