"BREAKFAST -
My husband, 2 children and I have just returned home from a fabulous trip to Berlin!! Im so glad I chose this hotel to stay at because it was superclean, super quiet, centrally located and the breakfast was AMAZING ! Waffle makers, croissants. continental breakfast, meats, cereals, fruit and nuts, warm rolls and freshly squeezed orange juice and so much more. Just out of this world. The waiting staff were sooo lovely and welcoming - thankyou to them for working so hard at keeping the seating areas clean and tidy, ensuring nothing ran out and adding to the amazing, pleasant atmosphere !
ROOMS -
Our family room (for 4 people) was lovely, with good ventilation system, a safe, iron and ironing board, kettle for beverages, and wardrobe area. We had bunk beds for the kids which they absolutely loved and a double bed. The bathroom was super clean and stylish /scandic. We got pretty warm in the hotel room so asked for some more fans and were given them without hesitation - nothing was ever too much trouble, reception always polite and friendly! Thankyou ! Xx
SURROUNDING AREA -
It is worth noting that the area is in west berlin ("high end") therefore the atmosphere and general demeanor of the berliners reflect this - so polite, everyone we communicated with spoke English. The u-bahn and s-bahn (literally only a few mins walk away) was slightly confusing at first but we very quickly got the hang of it and found it so easy to navigate after that. On excellent advice from the wonderful lady at reception at SBK (shout out to her, so sorry i didnt get ur name but thankyou so much for your expert advice and I hope u have a wonderful time in Paris next month!) we purchased a family ticket which was about €35 and lasted 24 hours (zones A and B) and could hop on and off any public transport as many times as you like but be sure to validate the ticket first !!! (These can be found next to any ticket station, just look for a black and yellow ticket station ).
The area was so safe, absolutely loved how the atmosphere never made us feel unsafe. KaDeWe shopping centre 7 mins walk away,
PLACES TO VISIT -
Brandeburg Gate, nearby Holocaust memorial of the Jews (5 mins walk away from BG), Checkpoint Charlie, TV tower, remains of the berlin wall, tiergarten (lovely walk through this beautiful park along the canal with many play areas!) KaDeWe shopping mall, museums galore and sooooo much more. You will love love love it! Thankyou SBK for being wonderful hosts- we will surely be back! Xxxx
