"When I was booking a room for my boyfriend and I, I accidentally booked a “1 person room”. The 1 person rooms and 2 person rooms look very similar and have very similar prices, the bed size is the same in both rooms, it’s just a smaller room for the 1 person room. The 1 person room is also listed as a double bed room. That is my fault for not realizing I was booking the wrong thing but my main problem is how they felt with the issue when we tried to check in.
When me and my bf arrived at around 12pm they offered a service to take both our bags for a few hours before our check in time, so we could walk around Paris without heavy bags. They did not check us in at the time but they checked that I had a reservation with my ID. They did not inform me at this time that I had booked a “1 person room”. But they took both me and my boyfriend’s bags.
We came back to the hotel at 5pm. They gave us our bags (they also had a hard time finding one of our bags which was a little annoying to be scared they lost them). Then when she checked us in she informed me that I had not booked a 2 person room. The manager came over to double check if they could change it to work but he couldn’t.
I asked the manager if he knew anywhere nearby that could take us instead and he said something along the lines of, it’s Sunday in Paris everything is booked you’re never going to find anything.
The lady at the front desk was nice in trying to help us and offered we could hang around the hotel. We probably could have both just stayed in the room and been fine. But the managers attitude was very rude and made me feel like he was going to send a security guard to knock on our door and kick us out into the streets in the middle of the night.
I paid this hotel €271 for the room for one night I feel like at that price point they could at least offer me some helpful advice and not make me feel unwelcome and with no options.
€271 for a room was a lot of money for a room for me. (for reference the 2 person room was like €280 so I didn’t realize from the price difference it was only for 1 person)
It was totally my fault for booking the wrong type of room but I don’t understand why they didn’t tell us I booked the wrong room when we were there at 12pm, and waited until late in the day. They took both me and my boyfriend’s bags and looked up to see that I had a reservation.
We decided to just leave and take the train to our next stop outside of Paris. We got to see the louvre while waiting to check in so we were satisfied with our visit."
