New Hotel Lafayette

"I was nervous to book here as I’d read mixed reviews, however, as one of the few hotels available in my price range I had no choice. Thankfully my experience was positive. We booked the junior suite which was just enough space for two guests. The room was tastefully designed and clean. The bathroom stocked Malin + Goetz products, which was super chic. I do think the hotel could do with some small touch ups due to wear and tear, but overall a nice spot to stay for a night or two in Paris. Position wise it was easy to walk everywhere and there were some great restaurants around Montmatre which weren’t touristy and had delicious food."

"Two couples visited and we had two rooms. The location was okay it was near two Metro stations however it was relatively quiet in the evening with some cafe / bars closing early. The rooms we had were tiny! There was no view from windows. Rooms we’re described as small doubles , it would be a stretch having one person stay here comfortably. There was no storage in room or bathroom. We had to live out of our suitcases. The air conditioning was a hit or a miss. Breakfast was in the basement. A room with no windows which did not look welcoming. Breakfast itself was very basic. Items like breakfast tea/ milk/ butter etc needed replenished regularly but often we had to seek out someone to do this. The few hot items were poor quality. We wont be back!"

"Zero air conditioning, broken (they say) for about a month, and it seems they have no intention of fixing it. Small and not very clean room, a box found behind the curtain of a window that kept us company. Staff, despite many Italian customers, does not speak a word. Wardrobe about 60 cm wide, we practically left the suitcases at the foot of the bed. A shower pipe broke (it can happen), reported to the staff, and I ask if they can repair it in the morning since we were out. I understand that it may not be possible, so I request a room change; they say it's fine but after 3 PM (I don't understand why since I am already in the facility), okay, I say, I will close the suitcases, and could you kindly handle the change since I am about to leave. Well, I return in the afternoon and find the suitcases in the lobby.... At that point, I throw in the towel. Breakfast was nothing special, except that there was not a good smell in the room."
