"I usually stay at Le Negresco but decided to give the Anantara a try because it was slightly less expensive and it is right in town so a great location.
That’s where the positives end.
Our check in after a long long overseas travel day took 45 minutes with a new not well trained front desk employee. When we finally asked for a front desk manager we were told there were non on property. We were promised 2 rooms with 2 twin beds but there was an error and only one room had twin beds. We finally gave up and just took the rooms because the kids were so tired we couldn’t deal with it any longer.
Upon check in, one of the rooms had hair in the shower, no trash cans, a sink that clogged, a broken cupboard door that fell off the rails every time I opened it, etc.
We also were not advised that our rooms faced the Nice Jazz Festival and so that meant we could not go to sleep until after 1 am for the first 3 nights of our stay. On the 4th night, we were awoken at 5:30 by a false alarm.
I spoke to a front desk manager and explained my frustration and that when you spend a lot of money on 2 rooms at an expensive hotel, you want to feel as though you’re getting your moneys worth and I definitely did not!
She called me later that day and offered to upgrade our rooms from partial sea view with balcony to premium sea view with balcony. My daughter and I took the upgrade but my husband and son weren’t sure they wanted to pack up and move rooms. But my daughter and I left Nice and went to st tropez for the day so the hotel moved our luggage for us into the new room. We loved the new room and we unpacked. Again. The following day, my husband and son decided to change rooms as well. They moved all their luggage up to the new room only to find out that the room did not have 2 twin beds as promised. We were promised that the room for my son and husband would have 2 beds in the new room as they did in the old room. But the hotel moved my daughter and I into the room where the bed could be split into 2 beds but my husband and 19 yo son were in a room with one bed. They took no responsibility and said it wasn’t a big deal for us to switch rooms again despite the fact that we had completely unpacked, showered, unpacked all our toiletries etc and then after a nice dinner had to come back and pack up yet again!
Again, there was no manager available ti talk to us. I spoke to a manager the following day and asked for some sort of reduction in our rate but she never got back to me and when I checked out the bill hadn’t been adjusted in any way.
By the way, unrelated to my stay, the lobby is very mediocre. Nothing special at all.
So all in all, a very disappointing yet expensive stay."
