"We stayed for two nights with our son in a Superior Room. Unfortunately, our experience fell well below our expectations for a four-star hotel. While there were some positive aspects, there were simply too many issues that affected our stay, so I can't rate it higher than two stars.
Noise:
The windows provide very little sound insulation from the busy street below. Ambulances passed frequently, and there was constant traffic noise and horn honking late into the evening. After a long day of travelling and very little sleep, we were really hoping for a good night's rest, but the noise made that impossible.
Bed:
The mattress was extremely firm and uncomfortable. Of course, this is subjective, but for us it made sleeping difficult.
Pool:
The rooftop pool looked inviting in the photos, but during our stay the water was noticeably cloudy and didn't appear clean. It seemed as though the filtration system was struggling to cope with the number of guests during the busy summer season. We honestly didn't feel like swimming. We also discovered that the pool shower was hidden away and rather awkward to use. We didn't see a single person shower before entering the pool, which certainly didn't help the overall impression.
Rooftop restaurant:
The rooftop restaurant has a lovely setting, but the prices were excessive, even by Nice standards. €13.50 for a beer and €5 for a Coca-Cola felt unreasonable. It's a shame, because we would happily have spent more time there if the pricing had been more realistic. The hotel is a perfectly average four-star property, yet the restaurant prices suggest a luxury level that the overall experience simply doesn't match.
Room and facilities:
The room is beginning to show its age. Some of the furniture and the floor was worn, and the wardrobe door actually came off its hinges twice during our stay. The wardrobe itself is poorly designed and impractical to use. There was also no luggage rack, so we had to place our suitcase on the small table. The minibar was empty and never became properly cold. Finally, the hairdryer cord was incredibly short which made drying long hair surprisingly difficult.
Overall, the hotel has potential thanks to its location and rooftop facilities, but the maintenance, comfort and pricing need significant improvement. We left feeling that the experience did not justify the price we paid.
On a positive note, the breakfast was very good, with a wide selection of fresh items. It was one of the highlights of our stay.
The staff were professional and willing to help whenever we needed assistance. However, a warmer and more welcoming attitude—with a few more smiles—would have made the overall experience feel much more hospitable."
