"Very pleased with our 10 night stay at Malibu park. This is a genuine review from a single mum whom stayed here in April Easter half term holidays with 6 year old disabled son. The hotel is lovely and it was very quiet surprisingly even in the Easter school holidays. Most mornings we were the only ones in the pool. They didn’t have loads of sunbeds but you could always get one no matter the time of day. Quiet during the evenings so great for sleep especially with all the amenities around us. Aqualand was down the hill and across the road so very convenient for us. Staff were very helpful and friendly. I really liked the WhatsApp number if you had any issues or questions they would reply straight away. Very helpful for us. The apartment (standard one bedroom) had absolutely everything we needed and could have asked for and more! From smart TV with WiFi and apps so we could watch YouTube (a life saver for my son), washing machine, sewing kit, fully equipped kitchen with oven, hobs, microwave, kettle and big fridge freezer which looked brand new, lots of kitchen essentials and cutlery including condiments like salt, pepper, sugar, flour, spices etc. we also had washing up liquid, a sponge and a cloth. Honestly, there was nothing else we needed in the apartment. There was also a hoover, mop and bucket, ironing board with iron, extra sheets, washing maiden and lots of pegs. The apartment was very spacious with a large lounge and balcony including a big table with 4 chairs and 2 loungers with towels and a smaller table. Overall we were very comfortable in there.
The only downfalls for us were: the beds, the mattresses were far too soft for us, especially the one in the bedroom it was like a marshmallow and I was sinking down into it (I’m not overweight) so I opted to sleep on the sofa bed with my son, again the mattress was soft but not as bad as the one in the bedroom! The apartment was a bit grimy and outdated but it was ok for us for the 10 nights. We would love to come back but I would prefer the apartments to be updated and modernised more. I know some are outdated and some are more modern looking at the other reviews. There were lots just down the hill from the hotel like shops, restaurants and bars. There was also an overseas supermarket which stocked Iceland and Morrisons for those wanting more home comforts. It was great for us as my son is a very fussy eater, even the owner said if we were to stay again we can also email and ask them for specific items if they can get them for us upon arrival which was amazing to know. The cleaning service wasn’t the best in regards to the floors being cleaned, they needed hoovering every other day in my opinion as well as mopping and I know we had these to do ourself but I wasn’t prepared to clean whilst on holiday especially when the service was included. We couldn’t walk on the apartment floor without wearing shoes as our feet would end up black! The sunbeds were a bit rusted and broken whilst the others were just plastic with no cushion. The pool was always clean. Depending on which lifeguard you get at the pool it states on the sign no inflatables in the big pool only the kids pool but some days the lifeguard never bothered to say no in the bigger pool, other times they did so that needs questioning really. The big pool was lovely and heated whilst the kids pool wasn’t which is strange to me because you would think a kids pool should be heated. The other issue was the big steep hill getting to and from the hotel but we knew about this beforehand and we hired a mobility scooter on the 3rd day as it was hell pushing my son up the hill daily in the heat in his wheelchair! They do have the lower ground entrance/exit but upon arrival we were told about it and had to pay €10 deposit for a white card to use this entrance (wasn’t keen giving a deposit when my son is disabled, I found it unfair for disabled people), however the next day we were at reception and overheard someone else querying it and the receptionist said the door wasn’t even working and they told us wrong! It wasn’t working for our whole stay unfortunately which wasn’t great but we had the scooter thankfully. We only went to the hotel bar once and paid €10 for a milkshake which was a lot! Also the barmaid couldn’t speak English and didn’t understand me, luckily a woman there at the bar spoke both Spanish and English so she translated for her. The splash pool bar is Irish owned I think and was ok, cheap enough, however the cocktails never tasted like they had alcohol in them even though I asked for them to be. Not the hotels fault as it’s a different company. Overall we had a fantastic holiday staying at Malibu park and the issues we had were only little things we can look past. We will be back in the future hopefully!"
