"I would like to begin that I am not a difficult person to please, in fact I generally put up with more than I should on the basis life is too short. However, I have decided on this occasion to take the time to write this review as I do not want other families choosing this hotel and paying with their hard earned cash without being fully informed. To begin with this is NOT a 4 * hotel, this is misleading marketing. I felt confident reading the Tripadviser reviews before booking that we had chosen well. I therefore feel it is important that guests are aware of the following:
1. Food safety standards are a concern as far as allergies are concerned. The hotel does not ask about allergies on arrival. If anyone has a severe allergy please make sure you raise this at check in. We discovered food labelling is not always accurate, shell fish may be in a dish but the labelling may not be correct. WE did draw attention to this one lunchtime and were advised the labels are generated by a computer? We found the shell fish dishes in the buffet were served alongside other dishes causing possible contamination of food by utensils being mixed up. The hotel management may not fully comprehend the consequences.
2. There are no single beds. Children of any age are expected to sleep together on a sofa bed. In room 101 on arrival the sofa had not been pulled out this was because it was positioned by the wall in front of the door, so when assembled there was no access in or an exit from the room. We did raise this and ended up rearranging the room ourselves as clearly there was a health and safety issue!
3. Air conditioning units are pre set at 24 which was not adequate for the level of heat in July.
4. There is no porter service to help with luggage on arrival or departure. I would imagine the usual electric style golf buggy most hotels use for this purpose would be inadequate due to the incline to the 'superior' rooms with a sea view.
5. There is one restaurant but I would describe this as more of a canteen. All self service. No engagement of staff, their main objective was to remove your plate as you took your last bite of food, an art in itself! The staff could be better trained to be more proactive as opposed to reactive ensuring that all coffee machines and fruit juice machines are working before breakfast starts.
6. A La Carte Italian restaurant. Only available on Wednesday and Friday evenings. Main course which is all served in the buffet restaurant anyway has to be pre booked. Unusually, for an a la carte the starters and desserts were both self service, so not really very relaxing. The toilets in the restaurant were in a dire state and in need of a refurb.
7. Each room has a kitchenette, this consists of an electric two hob , sink, cupboards and a fridge. However, other than the fridge, all pointless as there is no equipment provided and totally unnecessary on an AI package?
7. A kettle can be hired for a non refundable deposit of €20 per week. My advice, pack a travel kettle.
8. There is a room safe provided but to use it you need to pay a €5 deposit plus €5 a day charge.
9. Hotel beach towels are available for a refundable €10 deposit per towel.
10. The beach that is accessible from the hotel I understand is not part of the hotel. There is a charge of €20 a day for 2 sun loungers and a parasol. Please note the adjacent supermarket does sell parasols.
11. As already mentioned a lot, the fake grass around the main swimming pool is smelly and water logged. To be avoided in the evening as a nice pair of shoes could be ruined!
12. Entertainment area very hot especially near the stage under the lights where the children come together. Hand held fans strongly recommended. I do not feel qualified to comment on the evening entertainment as this is personal choice.
We travelled with our son, daughter in law their two girls aged 7 years and 2 years 8 months and our daughter and son in law and their little girl aged 18 months on 12th July 2026 for a 7 days holiday. I had specifically requested 3 garden rooms as I had read the reviews about the unacceptable hill climbing and steps with luggage and children.
We arrived very excited to begin our 7 day holiday. On check in, however, I have never before encountered such rude receptionists in any hotel either abroad or within the UK. I was informed, that EasyJet had cancelled two of the rooms I had booked and that the hotel was full!! A hotel manager reiterated this.
Quite distraught by now the receptionists reluctantly managed to 'find' two extra rooms. We had two garden rooms 143 and 101 and a room up a steep incline third floor room A304. Please note there are no lifts! EasyJet later investigated and advised the hotel had made a computer era cancelling two of my rooms. I am still waiting for an apology but I guess this would be admitting fault!
Important information! The rooms all have a phone to call reception and it is ext 700. We were not told this and if you have as many issues with these rooms as we did you will need to know how to get the maintenance men round!
The electricity in room 143 constantly tripped but luckily the fuse box is in the room!
Room 101 the electricity tripped 7 times during the weeks stay causing the air conditioning and fridge to go off. Not ideal in the temperatures we experienced. The last call out resulted in 5 maintenance men taking down the bathroom partition wall, so hopefully all sorted now!
My son's girls are not used to sharing a bed and I did ask if I could pay extra for a room with two single beds which I understand is not possible because they don't have any. Following this conversation, the receptionists arranged for housekeeping to place two travel cots in the room. If management take the time to read this review perhaps you could explain to the receptionists that travel cots are for babies.
On a plus the food was edible and plentiful. The choice at breakfast was good. The white wine drinkable. Our 7 year old Granddaughter really enjoyed the smoothies! The girls enjoyed the splash park area, although it is very hot as no shade and there is nowhere nearby to get refreshments. I would recommend taking insulated drinking cups/flasks.
The pool by the garden rooms is a nice pool but again there is no bar within this area or toilet facilities.
Overall we were very disappointed with our stay especially for the few thousands it cost, certainly not value for money. We did not enjoy the stress free holiday we all desperately were looking forward to. Sadly it will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. As in a previous review, maybe one day we will be able to laugh about it.
I feel that there is no interest in guest satisfaction. Sadly in my opinion, all the while the big tour operators are sending a steady stream of revenue this is reducing the owners incentive to improve. I strongly feel that families deserve more. Come on Fergus Carema you can do so much better, up your game and get returning happy guests. There is so much potential."
