"Globales Binimar – Menorca | 8/10
For the benefit of the readers, I do love a good review and have been fortunate enough to go on many holidays, including stays at some 5-star resorts.
I’ll write subsection reviews on each part of the stay for ease of reading.
This week, my family and I visited Globales Binimar, a 3-star hotel in Menorca.
We arrived at the end of September, so the resort was slowly coming out of peak season.
Reception
The reception was clean and presentable, and the staff were very welcoming and informative. They spoke fairly good English, and it was clear they also spoke other languages besides Spanish, which is a talent in itself!
I genuinely cannot complain about the reception or its staff.
Room
As you entered the room, the bathroom was directly in front of you. The bathroom was clean, although a little dated. However, for a 3-star hotel, I really can't complain.
The bedroom was to the right of the front door and consisted of two single beds. The mattresses were fine, and all the bedding was clean. The air-conditioning unit was of decent quality and easily kept the room cool.
To the left of the entrance was the living area, which consisted of a small kitchenette comprising a microwave, kettle, single electric hob, sink, draining board and cupboards with everything you need for self-catering.
The living area also had a sofa that could be converted into a bed, as well as a pull-out bed, which again seemed comfortable enough to sleep on.
The TV had multiple channels and, for you English families, it even has CBBC on channel 42!
The balcony was a little small, being an upstairs apartment, but it was more than big enough to sit out and relax during the evening.
The Restaurant
I had personally seen mixed reviews about the food before going.
There are two restaurants available, although as we were pretty much out of season, only one remained open, which I completely understand.
Personally, I cannot fault the food in the slightest. I would happily put this restaurant up against most 4-star hotel restaurants.
The selection was vast for both adults and children, the quality was good, and as you enter the restaurant, right in front of you is a stand featuring a speciality dish for the night.
For example, Sunday was a roast dinner, while Thursday was stir-fry.
Honestly, if you can't find something decent to eat during your stay, you're going to struggle anywhere!
The cooks and the waiters/waitresses were fantastic too. They all seemed to engage and interact with the kids really positively and always smiled and said hello. This was amazing to see!
The Bar
There are two bars: one small one by pool number 2 (yes, there are three pools!) and the larger one opposite the restaurant.
Both had wonderful staff, everything was clean, and again, I can't fault them.
If you're all-inclusive, the drinks included are wines, beers and soft drinks. The cocktails cost extra.
They also use a token system. At the start of your stay, each person receives a token, which you exchange for a cup at the bar. This is to prevent a build-up of cups lying around, which is a lovely economical idea and also helped keep the place tidy.
The Complex Itself
The complex was very clean and well maintained. The flowers and plants are kept to a really high standard, and again, I would easily put the scenery up against a 4-star resort.
The Pools
As stated above, there are three pools.
Pool 1: A decent-sized pool that goes to around 1.5m deep. Can't knock it.
Pool 2: The children's pool. It's fantastic for the kids, and you can easily get them to burn off all their energy there!
Pool 3: The quieter pool down the bottom. It's lovely if you're looking for somewhere a little more relaxed.
All three were clean and well maintained, which was great to see.
The Shop
There is a shop on site that sells all your basic needs.
No issues there.
The Entertainment
The entertainment was really good. The entertainment workers clearly want to be there, and their enthusiasm really shows.
There's darts, air rifle shooting, archery, French bowls and plenty more. It's great!
Throughout the day there are different activities, and at night there's a kids' disco followed later by something different for the adults each evening.
Amenities Close By
There are an abundance of shops and small supermarkets nearby.
There's also a small complex called Jimmy Hills, which has a few different bars and restaurants, with entertainment in the middle.
Recommendations for the Hotel
Honestly, this is difficult because I genuinely can't think of much!
Maybe some relaxed, chilled house music around the pools would be nice.
Another idea could be putting a few basic Spanish words on the walls, such as "Hola" and "Gracias", just to encourage guests to use a little bit of the local language. :)
Recommendations for Future Guests
The buses are easy and cheap — around €2 a ticket — and they are incredibly clean.
If buses aren't your thing, there are around 3–4 car hire places nearby.
Oh, and the beach at Cala Galdana... 10/10! 🌴
Overall
Overall, I'd give the hotel an 8/10.
I'm genuinely really, really impressed with the hotel and its staff.
For what I paid for the holiday, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would more than happily return to this hotel complex.
