"The hotel is in a beautiful setting with panoramic views from all areas. It is spotlessly clean, with some stunning features and beautifully maintained gardens. The glass bottles to fill your own water is a good sustainable idea, the smoothie shots on an afternoon was a nice touch. There are some negatives I'm afraid which meant I have scored this as average which is a shame. Other reviews have mentioned the dark lighting in the bathrooms making it difficult to put on makeup, maybe dimmer lighting would be better so you can adjust when needed without losing the ambient lighting at other times. The gym seems abit of an after thought with limited equipment. The biggest issue which shouldn't be an issue was the sun beds, we initially thought having to book a sun bed was a great idea, however, this turned out to be a little chaotic. My husband is recovering from knee surgery and was using a crutch throughout our stay; certainly not unnoticeable, we asked on the first day if we could reserve a bed to be told we needed to go to the main reception, I don't have a problem with that, so I went to reception to be told to go to the restaurant reception a little walk and some stairs away, so I wandered up there and reserved a bed and returned to the pool for the original man to show us our assigned bed. Within minutes of this, someone else spoke to the same pool man about reserving a bed and he got out is tablet and gave them a bed immediately without the fuss of visiting multiple locations like we had to do when clearly mobility is currently an issue for us. The next day, I attempted again to book a bed with the same pool man as clearly he is able to assign people beds, again I was sent to the main reception, spoke to the receptionist who told me to go to the restaurant reception where another member of staff led me to, so I asked the first person at the restaurant reception, who called her colleague, who then called another colleague, he then reserved me a bed, did not offer any options or tell me where the beds might be, so another flight of stairs later, I spoke to the original pool man after liaising with 6 other people to get back to this point. He directed us to our assigned bed whilst another guest hovered behind for assistance. She asked for a sunbed and he took out his tablet, gave her an array of choices and led her to her bed. My husband clearly standing there with a crutch on each occasion. So after this, we chose the less stressful choice of going to the adult pool where we were assured we did not have to book. This was great, numerous beds, more spaced out, quieter and more relaxed. The next day, we used the gym for rehab exercises, and I placed our bags in the corner beds so my husband had adequate space to move about without disturbing others. On our return, we discovered our belongings had been removed and a family on the beds now with reserved signs; in the section that can't be reserved? There was one other couple at this pool and ample beds which didn't warrant reserving or removing people's belongings to another bed when we had chosen the beds deliberately. There was no apology and the lifeguard said those beds were now reserved, they certainly weren't reserved when I put our bags there or when I went back before we had a coffee. The final day we chose our beds again, to later find other beds being reserved in this section later. Also teenagers using the pool. I'm not adverse to reserving, and didn't expect to have preferential treatment given my husbands limitations after his surgery. But this seems unacceptable and discriminatory, if you have a policy in place this should be operated fairly and transparently for all guests throughout the property. Some work to be done in this aspect."
