"Stayed at the Adults only, El Cid in Can Pastilla, Majorca for 4 nights, a couple and mother in law in room 320 and 326.
We priced up a taxi with hoppa and it was €72 return.
As we know it was minutes away from the airport (4 minutes on sat nav to be exact) we got a taxi outside the airport €16 to the hotel and €13 to the airport, so I have no idea where they got €72 from online.
We had 2 partial view rooms.
The double room (2 single beds pushed together) had a better sea front view than the single occupancy room (double bed)
I emailed the hotel asking a few questions before my arrival and they answered promptly, unlike some other hotels who didn't even reply.
However the one main thing we asked for was a good sea view for my mother-in-law, which we didn't get as it was a very limited side sea view, we did ask about changing rooms to be told most of the single occupancy rooms were on the side.
Check in was after 1.30 am due to a delayed flight and the reception was manned.
Swift check in, but we were the ones there.
Tourist tax is due at check in.
Double room was a good size, with tv, plenty of wardrobe space, dressing table. walk in shower, free safe, free Aircon, (which worked well) Free wifi, (which worked well until went down one day) airer for drying clothes ( in wardrobe ) fridge, free bottle of water, kettle with tea and coffee but no milk (this would have been great for our morning brew but it wasn't meant to be). 2 free beach towels to use round the pool, that could be exchanged at the reception daily for fresh ones. Shampoo, shower gel, hairdryer in the bathroom.
2 chairs and a table on balcony
Hotel is very, very clean which was nice to see.
2 pools, one right facing the beachfront and one around the back, which had some Bali beds, the pool round the back didn't have many umbrellas so if you need the shade use the front pool.
Lifeguards on both pools.
Tennis court available
Breakfast is 8-10.30am, when we went to the pool after breakfast, usually 9am ish and there were sunbeds available so no need to get up at 6am .
Yes you had the usual people put towels down and leave the hotel all day and come back around 3,4 5pm or sometimes never.
One lifeguard was taking towels off the bed, when he realized they were not occupied, but it wasn't done enough and some people had to sit on chairs, when perfectly good beds were not being used as people went out all day.
I feel this should be watched more, and actioned as it just isn't fair.
There are staff walking round the pool taking orders for food and drink and bring them to your bed.
There is an indoor, fully air-conditioned bar if you prefer to sit inside.
No evening entertainment but they did have a dj on round the pool one day.
The pool is saltwater and surprisingly quite warm even tho it isn't heated.
There is an indoor pool but for some reason it was closed ( no explanation given when I asked )
Gym with weights and exercise machines, sauna and steam room ( both were locked so I don't know if you need to book them)
Massages advertised at reception and it is facing the gym.
Breakfast was the usual fruit, pastries, toast, omelettes, eggs, bacon etc.
Evening meal is buffet (cost €19) but we were told guests at the hotel got 40% discount. We didn't use as we were B&b and we ate out each night.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants on your doorstep.
Pharmacy not far if you need one.
The beach is literally over the road, it takes less than a minute to have your feet in the sand from leaving the hotel front door.
Sunbeds on the beach I thought were expensive, €30 for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella.
The sand Is lovely and soft, but its a bit stoney when you go into the water, so maybe use beach shoes.
Lots of paddle boarders in the morning and windsurfers in the afternoon for you to watch.
Supermarket right at the entrance to the hotel to get all your drinks and snacks.
You can buy your own and take into the hotel if you wish as there was no restrictions
Seperate smoking area with tables and chairs overlooking the beach.
We needed a wheelchair during our trip for my mothering law and the hotel arranged for it to be delivered to the hotel for us.
Can pastilla is very flat so good for people with walking issues (as no hills or steps) or you can get a wheelchair if needed like we did.
Check out is 12pm, and they will store your luggage in a locked room until you are ready to leave.
They don't have courtesy rooms but you can use the showers in the gym area to freshen up.
This is my second time in Can Pastilla, and my first time in The el cid.
It is a lovely hotel, very central, short transfer with everything on your doorstep.
We will be back and have already recommend this hotel to others.
I have a youtube video of the hotel, if you are interested to see it"
