"Just back from a mini break in Mallorca at the Iberostar Cala Millor
Fantastic service, and top marks to Alfonso at reception who was exceptionally helpful and attentive every time we asked for information although everybody else has been nice too!
We were offered some prosecco at arrival and chocolate truffles and were very lucky to get a room upgrade
The hotel is very clean. All staff is very hardworking and smiley.
Puri, who did our room was lovely and went above and beyond to help fixing an issue for us.
Food is buffet style, plentiful and ok. Each night had a cuisine theme not all of which appealed to us but there were a few alternatives.
The only thing we didn’t particularly like was the shape of the hotel. That might sound strange but for people like us who love sunbathing we had to wait for the sun to shine on the pool area as it was blocked by the hotel next door. Where were took sun-beds the sun only shone between around 12:30 and 4:00pm with the remainder of the time being in the shade. At this time of year the best location for the sun-beds is over towards the left hand side (facing the sea) as these get the sun earlier (but also get in the shade earlier). We don’t know what it is like in the summer though. Could be very different.
Also we thought both the sunbeds and the tables inside the restaurant were too tightly positioned leaving one feeling too close to others guests a bit like sardines. I appreciate that space is at a premium but the hotel might want to rethink this. Obviously this is a structural issue with the hotel and nothing to do with the fab service and staff
Not much to do in the area though apart from the two touristic “mini trains” that go around the local streets so that’s a good way of sightseeing. It’s €10 per person and a ticket is valid all day so you can hop on and hop off as you like. There is a train stop near the Spar minimart at the end of the street where the hotel is. The timetables for the red train and white train could be a bit clearer in my opinion but we successfully navigated things!
The beaches are quite rocky near the hotel so we didn’t think they were ideal for sunbathing.
Apart from that we had a very enjoyable break with pleasant weather (24 degrees)
One last thing about parking if you are driving. When we arrived, the hotel street (which is a cul de sac) was full but opposite the cafe next to the spar there is a big open car park which it’s free! Cars keep moving so the day after we managed to move the car and park outside the hotel"
