Iberostar Selection Lanzarote Park

"We’re regular Iberostar customers and have been to this hotel before with our family and returned for a week’s holiday last month. The hotel was just as good as it normally is but we were left feeling a bit disappointed by the attitude of Reception staff when I reported that our 3 year old grandson’s toy disappeared from his room after the cleaning staff visit. My grandson noticed immediately when we returned to the room that his toy was missing. I told a member of staff who didn’t seem to be interested but said she would try to find it. I then had to go back the next day to enquire and spoke to another staff member who said it was probably with the laundry. On the third day I was told it wasn’t found with a shrug of the shoulders and ‘sorry’. I was left feeling that nobody cared about the missing property which must have been lost/thrown out by a staff member as it never left the room. We even had a photo of the toy on the bed. We were contacted by someone at the hotel on our return home. They said they had found the toy. Unfortunately the picture they sent was of another child’s toy bearing no resemblance to our lost toy. Just feel the situation should have been dealt with in a more sympathetic manner- even offer of compensation for something their staff had lost. Spoiled the end of our holiday."

"We’ve just returned from a third visit in Star Prestige; and we did have a good time; but I do think some of the service standards by housekeeping have slipped this year. Positives- plenty of sunbeds, friendly staff, bar service great, food great. Great that door looking from the ground floor rooms onto the patios have now been added. The lifeguard/ towel guys were really good, they had a challenge on their hands with 45mph winds, with moving Bali beds, lounges moving etc! Esther being her usual cheery self! Negatives- housekeeping standards as I say have slipped slightly. Turndown service only happened about a 1/3 of the nights, the empty bottle tops were frequently left, the mini bar not filled promptly and unfortunately I had an issue with mosquitos in my room which took a couple of sprays and the addition of 3 room plugs to try and solve. Reception did always send someone but I killed about 25 on the first morning I woke up. Unfortunately the weather was awful when we were there for the week ; which highlighted the lack of undercover spaces for star prestige guests that can be used (we were all inclusive so happily could use the sports bar that we loved; but this isn’t the same for all) I do think this is something that really needs to be looked at."

"We stayed one week in this hotel. As we are accustomed to international renowned brands, we were a little bit disappointed. The price is a little bit expensive for what you finally get. This is not the best value for money and compared to other chains of hotels. First, we do not understand why we have to pay an extra-price to get access to the SPA: this is the first time that we experience that. This is not only a question of money but before all, a question of convenience this arrangement make the access to the SPA more complicated in not smooth way. Second, the rules are quite stringent and the staff seem not well trained to deal with unexpected issues. Third, the room and bathroom are ok but below international standards. Four, there is not dedicated areas for people who must work a little during the stay. This hotel and more generally, this island seems to match much better to retirees than people with young children. However, we appreciated the kindness of the staff and the various amenities."
