"Just wanted to write a review this hotel deserves.
Amazing from start to finish.
I did nothing but worry before coming with my 5 month old & partner due to some of recent reviews. TUI were unhelpful giving me conflicting information before arriving, but without being able to amend we decided to come anyway, which I am SO glad about.
I was completely proven wrong, you can’t listen to everything written & everyone’s experiences are different when using hotels.
We travelled June 2026 for a week at Riu Vistamar, greeted with a very warm welcome at reception & while it was busy at check in ( large amount of guests got off our TUI transfer) staff were efficient to get us all sorted due to the late arrival (around 12am) the staff explained the app could be used for all information gave us the basic info needed and provided the room cards. We were advised to go 24 hour sports bar or the restaurant for refreshments & some food which was put on for late arrivals. (Burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches etc)
I had emailed ahead of arrival and asked for a beach view. This is what we got! One of the best views I have ever had from a hotel room.
Our room was very tidy, clean and neat.
A very good space. With all necessaries needed. Shower area could be slightly cleaner due to discolouring and green with the harsher water but odourless & no issues.
Mattress was dipping in the middle and could have been comfier in my personal opinion however I feel this is personal choice too. We asked for an iron & extra pillows on the app when we arrived & the next day they were provided by the house keeping. So effortless.
AC worked efficiently & fan too. Shuts off when opening the balcony door, however nice space for having a small drink or morning coffee. Space for hanging wet clothes too. Didn’t find the safe the easiest to use or set up & an instruction manual would be very helpful. However we decided we didn’t need the safe & nothing was touched throughout the stay.
Throughout the week we tried all foods/ restaurants and snack bars. A vary of drinks and found it all to be fresh, mostly hot & flavourful. Varied meals for everyone each day. Lots of meat on offer!
One day my partner made himself a full Sunday lunch! Heniz sauces throughout all meals and Nutella at breakfast. If we did ask for certain drinks/ spirts, the hotel does mostly supply them all - Smirnoff vodka etc & soft drinks all tasted banded to me.
Breakfast was great, service for coffee some days could have been more efficient when sitting outside, however such friendly staff & again views to die for! Also you could have a later breakfast at the sunset bar which was great 10:30am- 12:30pm.
Lunch can be enjoyed in the restaurant or the snack bars, or around the pools, with plastic plates and cups provided for safety. Again great for us with the baby when we just fancied a snack ( chips, pizza, burgers, grilled meat etc) we didn’t explore much fish, salad or fruits due to personal choice, but it did all look very fresh and nice.
Dinner again served a variety and we did have a lot of choice. We went to both the Asian restaurant and sunset restaurant at night, both serving lovely evening meals (buffet style for food) however drinks are waited, which is a nice touch. All can be booked the day before you wish to dine, on the Riu app.
Again staff have all been SO helpful and friendly. My 5 month old son couldn’t have been fused by everyone! Which was very lovely and appreciated. Nothing felt too much & the housekeeper was such a sweet lady! Making sure we had everything we needed for baby.
I had read the lifts could be a nightmare, however we did not experience this. One day we did have a longer wait than usual (assuming a peak morning wait) which with a pram meant we did have to just wait for the lifts to become free, however it was never over ten mins & happened once or twice in our whole stay! Hand sanitiser everywhere & when using the lifts we ensured to use hand sanitiser every-time.
Hand sanitiser is provided across the hotel everywhere & something we personally used a lot through out the week. With my son being young I have it anyway!
A few suggestions for the hotel for slight improvement would be to ensure some baby changing facilities on every single level. I was in the sport bar one evening when we needed the baby changing and I did have to go to reception in the lifts to change baby. (if there is more facilities it is not made very clear)
We also found it odd the baby pool was on the highest level of the hotel with lots of stairs. However if you use the road leading from reception to the gate of the hotel this can be accessed without any stairs.
Very safe!! We went out in a taxi a few times which reception very kindly ordered us, and the guard on the gate always checked if we had a Riu band when re-entering the hotel with the taxi. Which is really liked & made me feel comfortable and secure. (Free shuttle bus to the beach, however we choose to taxi €4-6)
The hotel shop is also located on floor 6, but only available through using the purto rico lift side. (A helpful staff member explained this one day for us)
Very large selection of items if needed but be mindful there is a small amount of steps also to the shop. We managed easy with the baby pram being carried.
Good varied entertainment & staff activity also which was good throughout the week. The pool aerobics looked very good!
Honestly I have stayed in many Riu hotels throughout my life & never find issues.
This hotel is the same and better! Please try for yourself & keep your own hygiene up, keep an eye for fresh food which will be hot & hopefully you will like us have zero issues!!"
