"We have just finished a restful week’s stay at this peaceful hotel just outside Arucas.
Good points definitely outweigh bad!
- full marks to all the truly lovely staff, who have all been so helpful and friendly throughout our stay!
- spacious room (we were in a suite with small sitting area and fridge downstairs, bedroom and bathroom upstairs), with comfortable bed and decent sized bathroom with good shower over the corner bath
- the hotel itself is so lovely, with its surrounding banana plantation giving a truly rural and authentic feel
- very clean throughout
- the food has been decent and drinks not overpriced
- plenty of outdoor seating options in the communal areas including shady and sunny spots
- nice swimming pool
- close to Arucas and not that far from Las Palmas; bus 206 stops right outside the access road
- very very safe!
- if you want to be away from other Brits, this is a great place to come! All other guests during our stay were Spanish or German
Not so good points:
- no air con, so on days with little breeze the bedroom part of our suite, especially, was rather hot. A large freestanding fan is provided, which I had trained on me all night every night (we stayed in July)
- food a little on the repetitive side: minimal variety at breakfast and both starters and desserts had repeated options during our week
- walking to Arucas is possible (20-25 min walk) but it’s along a quite busy main road with no path so not pleasant
- although the hotel itself is very quiet, there is work noise from the banana plantation and also lots of barking from the Arucas dog rescue centre!
- some Spanish is really needed as most of the staff don’t speak very good English (the main lady in reception during the day being a notable exception to this, plus I think our cleaning lady); luckily my Spanish is not too bad!
- the bedroom area of our suite was very dark even with all the lights on, and the “sofa” in the seating area was a divan base against a wall with cushion pads, not very comfortable at all (we mostly sat on the verandah just outside)
- You can manage without a car (we did, perfectly well, by using a mixture of buses and taxis) but most people would probably find it easiest to have one.
Overall, we would really recommend this hotel if you want an authentic Canarian stay off the standard tourist trail!"
