Hotel El Paso & PortAventura Theme Park

"Simply awful hotel. Staff were rude, unhelpful and disrespectful. Room was dark, damp, mouldy and smelly. Food was not great for a 4 star hotel. This is not a 4 star hotel and should not be advertised as such. Other than being in a good location for Portaventura, I have nothing good to say about this hotel."

"A family of experienced theme park travellers. Disney, Dunriell, Legoland's, Gardaland etc. This was our First trip to Portaventura world, stayed in a Portaventura world hotel the El paso. Hotel guests can enter the park at 10.30 so half an hour early but no rides start until 11am so not really any advantage to a stay in a Portaventura hotel. We booked 2 rooms as a family of 5 but they were not interconnecting which was disappointing. Rooms were well themed but basic enough. The hotel is nice, clean. There were people smoking everywhere especially in the queue for the restaurant. One day it rained and the floors were very slippy. The bedding was very light for this time of the year, October. Online check in was a bit complicated but the check in staff were nice and ordered us a taxi very swiftly on our last day. Checked in online was told on the first morning they would message with room number at 3pm, they never did. Shower power is very strong but hard to control couldn’t adjust shower head which led to water everywhere. This led to a very Wet floor. Towels- only 2 towels were left in the room, no bath mat left, for a room of 3 people and the floor fully wet after 1 shower, created a slip hazard. No extraction fan in the bathroom after a short shower the whole room was dripping. Half board can't be swapped for a lunch in the park, so you must choose between dinner and time in Ferrari land one evening. Only entry to Ferrari land on one evening and its only open 5-10pm. Left luggage is automatic lockers that are an extra charge. Usually in hotels left luggage is free. Meals No soup or cereal spoons. Not enough coffee machines. 2nd morning asked 2 staff to refill milk was waiting almost 10 mins. 3rd morning no bowls and no milk asked 2 staff took 10mins again. Staff working really hard, there’s just not enough of them. No one manning the food stations. Dishes, when available, still dirty or wet from dishwasher. Bad labelling on food couldn't tell what things were. Unsupervised kids in dining room a trip/spill hazard. The Merida restaurant in hotel El Paso did change food available at the buffet everyday, food was good, but no option to eat half board in park. Not worth half board for that alone. We walked into Salou one morning about 20-25mins. straight forward walk. We really went for the theme park and were disappointed at the queue times. The park has great rides, theming and facilities but the opening hours, organisation, very long queue times and inaccurate advertised queue times was a real let down. Express passes are almost essential and that makes the place as expensive if not more than other theme parks that are bigger. Pool was closed we didn't use any of the bars or other facilities there didn't seem to be much entertainment on in the hotel."

"Hotel was clean rooms was dark and my air con broke mid stay was offered to move but was to much hassle so we stayed in room Everything was good apart from the snack bar full of wasps and could get into food The restraunt was good only thing is its the same food only changed 2 days and then went bk to same things i think this needs worked on The selection was good but it just didnt add up the mix u got it should have a set theme for all food and then add option nuggets burgers ext for kids Everything else was fine and booked for next year for 2 weeks this time"
