"I enjoyed my stay in the Luna Club Hotel. The room was a good size and the bed comfortable. At first I was a little bit disappointed by the lack of a bedroom kettle, but I didn't miss it. It was great to have a fridge in the room and the balcony had enough seating. The only issues I had with the bedroom was that there was only just enough storage space for 2 people's clothing. I enjoyed the pressure of the shower in the bathroom but travelled with someone who would have been more comfortable if you didn't have to step over into an over-bath shower. The bathroom towels were too small for my taste and I would have appreciated storage space or hangers in the bathroom because I ended up putting my change of clothes on top of the bidet and the clothes I was taking off on the floor. There was definitely space for a low shelving unit or table underneath or the sink. The room and ensuite was clean but there was minor damage to the bathroom door. You could hear music being played from the bedroom in the evening but overall the hotel wasn't noisy.
Both pools were brilliant, with steps leading down into the water, a good temperature, and plenty of seating around. I enjoyed sitting on the terrace after dinner and appreciated the fact that we were sometimes given snacks with our drinks. The main niggle in that bar terrace was that smoking was permitted, which I am no longer accustomed too. The sangria was great and I enjoyed a strawberry mohito but the tequila sunrise cocktail had far too much tequila for my taste (I probably should have commented but didn't want to be awkward). I didn't use the wellness facilities so can't comment on those.
There was plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner, and i used the fresh cooking stations a few times as well. I particularly appreciated orange juice and the coffee machine in the morning, but the person I travelled with didn't like the hot long-life milk so couldn't enjoy a morning cup of tea as they would have liked. A lot of the food in the buffet wasn't hot, which was a shame, but the hot weather was a benefit in that respect as it was less noticeable. I loved the choice of salad vegetables every night, and the fact that it was never identical, and there was lots of fish on offer, which was nice. I particularly recommend the swordfish. I would have loved to see a greater variety of fruit at both breakfast and dinner. I enjoyed the watermelon but it would have been great to see strawberries, apples, pears, grapes and bananas. Service was good and hotel staff were always pleasant and helpful.
The hotel's location was great. Although the Tui website says it's in Malgrat de Mar, it's actually closer to Santa Susanna. I liked the fact that it was set back from the beach, and that it was close to land trains, a regular railway station, and things to do. It was a shame that most of the establishments nearby were other hotels and restaurants as there was less choice if you just wanted something light to eat during lunchtimes."
