"The hotel entrance from the street is uphill so just bear that in mind if you have any mobility issues. I arrived at the hotel with my 3 friends for a girls trip, I had emailed prior asking for a refurbished room as it was special holiday for us all, celebrating all of our big birthdays.
STAFF: The lady at reception greeted us with a big friendly smile and told us that we had been upgraded to a different room, giving us 2 bedrooms. We were very happy with this, they had taken the time to read my email and act upon it, so that was really lovely. I'm not sure what her name was but she was very attentive, giving us maps and all the information that we needed for our stay. All of the staff that we had interaction with were very friendly.
ROOM : Our room was on the 4th floor away from the lifts which is always a bonus. The room itself was lovely, very clean, bright, modern and enough for what we needed. The bathroom was great too, nice and roomy. My only suggestion for the bathrooms was that there was no towel rail for the hand towels. They ended up damp all the time from being at the side of the sink. The water pressure in the shower was good too which is always a positive. We overlooked the fab swimming pool, with views of the sea in the distance. We had a small fridge, and kettle and some cups/glasses. The beds were super comfortable, I slept so well I could have spent a lot longer in them!!! I didn't see any bugs so that was a huge thumbs up for me.
FOOD: We stayed on HB basis, the breakfasts were always plentiful, lots of pastries (these were tasty), different types of bread, cereal and fruit available. There were pre-cooked omelette slices if you wanted them, boiled/fried eggs cooked tomatoes (I found these a bit hard for my liking) cooked mushrooms, baked beans, sausages and bacon etc. There were some pancakes and waffles too. I would have liked some hash browns but I didn't see these in time that we were there, they did have chips but I didn't want these for breakfast. The fruit options were 2 types of melon, orange and pineapple but no bananas (only saw these at the evening meal). Evening meals were again buffet style, plenty of salad, bread, cheese, pizza, different fruits and cakes etc. It was ok, but for vegetarians, other than the salad and pasta there wasn't much choice. There were a couple of dishes but very limited, so I filled up on the lovely salad as I enjoy that. The cakes and puddings etc I found were often confusing with the labels, the labels were all on the top of the serving stations and not next to the dishes on the level below so sometimes it was difficult to work out if they were suitable for me to eat as some dishes looked similar. This is something that could be improved for people with allergies/dietary requirements. As a vegetarian I didn't want to risk eating them as it was unclear to me what label belonged to which dish (labels did have symbols on but the dishes were not always clear as some fitted more than one description). I did try asking but I'm not sure the if the staff member fully understood my question. I did have the fruit instead though with some icecream, and that was ok. The food for me was ok, I have had better but that's my personal preference. I'd have liked to see some veggie curries, lentil tagines etc.
POOL: Large and very nice, there is a snack and drinks bar that sold pizza, chips icecreams etc. I only had the pizza and it was delicious!! I enjoyed a cool swim in it, it was May so it was cold but I still got in it.
LOCATION: There is a petrol station and Burger King across the road, and a supermarket on the corner. About a 20 minute walk to the centre of Lloret with shops and restaurants/cafes along the way, we walked down every night in search of some night life. We didn't need to use taxi's. The hotel does provide childrens entertainment which they seemed to enjoy, not sure about anything else as we went out. There are lots of places to drink/go clubbing etc and shops for gifts etc. You will also find the beach here which looked gorgeous. We enjoyed drinking in the Old Vic or Queen Vic (I can't remember which) but they played really good music and in the summer I can imagine it to be a great place to go. Everything was within a 30 minute walk so for us it was great.
My friends and I had a really lovely time here, other than the few improvements I have mentioned about the food; there is nothing to complain about. We enjoyed everything about it, and I would recommend it to people. I would also stay here again, and I am hard to please :) Thank you Encantada for a memorable stay, we will be back."
