"The location was in a more quiet part of Eixample which was ideal for us. The hotel entrance and main floor lobby/waiting, cafe area has nice dark decor accent and felt relaxing. They offer fresh infused water and little treats near the lifts for a period of time, daily, which was a nice touch. They also provided 1 water bottle in our room. No welcome drinks or message, unfortunately. Did message prior to coming, stating it was my daughter's birthday and if a cake or slice of cake/fruit etc. could be arranged but, no response received.
The two reception staff on our arrival day were warm, friendly and welcoming. Took copies of our passports and a deposit of €150 for drinks and also used that to cover the city tax at the end of our stay.
The room was a standard double bed. The bed was surprisingly bigger than anticipated [requested two twin]. The room was compact with little available storage space. There is a safe in the room and drink and snacks at extra charge in the mini fridge. Kettle and tea provided in the room at no charge.
The AC system was a nightmare as it was slow and didn't cool the room - non existent in the hot and humid Barcelona summer. We were hot and sweaty some nights. This needs to be fixed as it impacted our sleep.
First few days the room bed was made each day and new towels were provided. During the latter part of our stay, the younger house keeping woman who cleaned our room, not only made our bed, provided new towels but also cleaned the floor which made such a huge difference, so thank you.
The most bizarre thing I encountered was having to request an iron and ironing board which had seen better days and had no steam, water pray option. The fight for an Iron and Ironing board was a real struggle lol. I would have thought as a 4* hotel, this would be standard part of the service but, you live and learn.
The reception staff all spoke English which really helped, and were also able to show us how and where to go when asked.
The rooftop area needs some attention. Looks a lot better in pictures and a lot bigger but in reality, its much smaller. The pool was a big no no. We entered only once and got out as soon as we realised it's not maintained or cleaned regularly. There was pigeon droppings at the bottom of the pool, which was gross and had to rush to shower. The pool is extremely small but still a pool and pigeons constantly fly to drink water. Not a pleasant experience.
There are two lifts which is helpful and the hotel offers luggage storage, ideal for late flights. Alex was also accommodating when requesting to a sligtly later checkout.
The bathroom is standard, cleaning could be improved and the water pressure is average. They provide you with shampoo and shower gel, should you need it.
There is a full length mirror opposite the bathroom door in the main doorway area which is great. So you can check yourself before going out.
Slippers would be great and maybe a shoe rack to keep all your footwear in one place would be a welcomed sight.
Once you open the curtains in the room, the room really lights up from the naturally sunlight. However, I wouldn't call the outside space a balcony. They need to regularly clean the outside space as it was full of pigeon poop.
Overall, would I stay here again? Why not, it's a decent hotel but more 3 to 3.5* than a 4* hotel.
If and when I return to Barcelona in the future, I'd initially look and see what other alternative accommodation is available for tje samw price point before booking here. Not to say it's not a decent hotel, cause it is.
Finally, was a bit confused with the city tax at the end of our stay as I was told a lower price on the day of arrival but charged more when we left
The breakfast was ok. Nothing out the ordinary. There are no non-meat options for meat or any vegan or veg sauces. So for anyone with dietary requirements, this falls short. They do offer regular tea, coffe, and a selection of fresh juice which was nice. The bread slices on offer were going hard and at times, didn't taste fresh. There's also a small selection of cut fruit, while fruits, fresh water, ice and level. Champagne for anyone who enjoys a drink or two early un the morning. There was also a small selection of bakery items. Yoghurt, small compotes and cereals with various milk options.
The breakfast staff were friendly and welcoming. Also gave us omelette on request.
There is a bus stop few seconds away from thr hotel and few mims walk will lead you to metro stations. You can also book or hail taxis, if needed.
Overall a decent place to stay."
