"Last year we stayed in Jaz Dar El Madina, this year (25/11/25-2/12/25) in Jaz Solaya as my wife wanted to have a view at the sea. The hotel is on the same resort. It takes 15 minutes from the airport (used Steven's taxi, very good)
The arrival was a bit off: had to wait at reception long time because our room was not cleaned yet, despite the arrival at 16:00, no explanation about the room, we were brought to our, he showed the view from the balcony and immediately took off, had to call reception for an explanation about the use of the safe as there was no instruction card, called reception because we took a shower before dinner but there were no towels in the bathroom but nobody came, room was not pefectly clean (remains of spilled drinks on the table at the balcony).
During our stay we complained about a leaking shower hose, this was replaced immediately. Although the temperature in Marsa Alam was not very hot, the fridge was not very cold. We menioned it at reception when we left.
Did it ruin our stay? Absolutely not! The hotel is very nice. The room was spacious and kept clean well. It seemed as if the same person looked after our room and was just waiting to replace our beach towels at the end of the day and asking us if he could do something for us. He was also very creative with leaving folded towels on the bed, not just once but almost every day. Around 19:00 it could be very noisy at the corridor near our room because of children screaming, crying or opening/closing doors but at night and in the morning it was always quiet.
The hotel (paint work) and the gardens are perfectly maintained (probably the best I have very seen) and everything was very clean and smelling nice. The toilets always looked (and smelled) as if they were cleand two minutes ago. The pools (sweet water and not cold) and its surroudings were also very clean. I did not notice any rubbish anywhere not even a piece of paper. It was a joy to stroll around the gardens to the pool, to the restaurant, back to your room or just going for a walk.
The staff was very pro-active with serving drinks or preparing food. I appreciated the charcoal grill outside very much.
I enjoyed the fresh cut fruits at the buffet, the salads with many ready made sauces and dressings to choose from. In some other hotels we stayed at (eg. Turkey) the deserts looked very nice but are honeysweet, all made of whipped eggwhite and all taste the same or had not taste at all. In this hotel they all taste different and are absolutely not too sweet.
Also enjoyed the terrace outside in the evening with live music and plenty of staff to serve drinks. We did not watch a show so cannot write anything about it. Snorkling at the pier is also very nice, especially with a snorkling mask.
Staff is very much focussed on Germans but I do not speak the language, only spoke English. My wife drinks white wine but doesn't like sweet wine so I specifically asked for a glas of dry white wine. They brought us three glasses of wine, I initially thought they were just trying to make joke. It took me some time before I realized they actually thought I was ordering three ("drei") glasses of wine. Ordered a Pina Collada cocktail at the bar once but that was so bad that I did not try again.
We once had dinner at the a-la-carte restaurant Sofra where you also have live music (female singer). Don't book for 19:30 if you do not want to listen and watch the kids disco. The atmosphere at the Sofra restaurant is nice but the food is what you also find at the buffet, extremely well-cooked. I also appreciated that linnen napkins are used at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Such a detail defines in general the overall quality of the hotel, in my view.
Will likely go to this hotel again."
