"We stayed at the Louis St Elias as a party of five, and it isn’t difficult to see why this hotel consistently receives such outstanding reviews.
We arrived late at night and were greeted at reception with genuine warmth and friendly smiles. There is always a bucket of ice with Prosecco, along with apples and dried fruit, available for arriving guests. The staff kindly helped carry our suitcases to our room, where we found sandwiches, a bottle of sparkling wine and a selection of sweet treats waiting for us, as we’d missed the evening buffet. It was a thoughtful touch and set the tone for the rest of our stay.
Our room was spacious, modern and impeccably clean throughout the holiday. The accommodation consisted of a small kitchenette, a comfortable living area with a dining table, a separate bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom and a large balcony. One of our rooms overlooked the sea and St Elias Church, which made for a beautiful view.
The food was probably some of the best we’ve ever experienced at an all-inclusive resort. Every evening featured a different themed buffet, and there was always plenty of choice, even for the fussiest eaters. If you fancied a change, you could also book the Mezee restaurant in advance, which was equally fantastic.
The all-inclusive drinks selection was excellent. In reality, the bar staff were happy to make almost anything you asked for. We worked our way through plenty of cocktails during the week, and there was also Estrella and Keo on draught, cans of Strongbow cider, sparkling wine, premium branded spirits, soft drinks, iced lattes, frappés and much more.
We didn’t spend much time around the main activity pool, but we made great use of the snack bar. The food on offer included burgers, chips, traditional Cypriot lounza and halloumi sandwiches, gyros, pizza, wraps, baguettes, fresh fruit, salads, ice cream and plenty of other options throughout the day.
The quieter pool, situated next to the main buffet restaurant, was our favourite. It was much more relaxing, and the sun loungers were the most comfortable we’ve ever used on holiday.
As with any hotel, there were a few minor negatives, although these are very much nitpicks.
The gym could certainly be improved for a four-star hotel. While we appreciate not everyone uses it, the equipment was quite limited, with only a few treadmills and an upper back machine. A better selection of weight machines or even some free weights would make a big difference.
The hotel is also advertised as offering midnight snacks, but we discovered on arrival that these were no longer available. This wasn’t a major issue for us, but it was a little disappointing given that they are still advertised.
There were also quite a few children whose behaviour during meal times and around the pools was left unchecked by their parents. The staff did everything they could to politely remind guests about etiquette, but we did feel that having one of the two main pools designated as adults only would make the experience even better for those looking for a quieter holiday.
Overall, this is a fantastic hotel and one we would happily recommend. What truly sets it apart, however, is its staff. Every single member of the team went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
Jake and Mr Flouriz make an exceptional management team and genuinely care about their guests’ experience, regularly walking around the hotel to chat with guests and ensure everyone was happy. Their customer service is outstanding.
Special mentions also have to go to Reda, who made every meal time a pleasure with his friendliness and attentiveness. Atef and Evelia behind the bar were always incredibly polite, welcoming and happy to help, no matter how busy they were.
A hotel is only as good as its staff, and after ten nights we can honestly say we were treated like royalty. Thank you to everyone at Louis St Elias for making our holiday so memorable. We wouldn’t hesitate to return."
