"The room was a great size and very comfortable. The pool facilities were very good, particularly for families with young children, and the outdoor spaces around the resort were excellent and well maintained.
Unfortunately, our dining experiences significantly let down what could otherwise have been an excellent stay. Dinner in the restaurant was disappointing, the chairs were nearly all incredibly dirty and stained, luckliy found a couple of "ok" ones to use, restaurant has a very limited menu that did not offer good value for money. The satay chicken burger lacked the expected satay flavour and my wife felt poorly a few hours after eating it. leading to her being unwell in the the night.
The Food took a long time to arrive despite dining at 6:00pm when there were very few other guests in the restaurant. We had to ask where our bread was having waited 20mins for it, The bread served was particularly underwhelming and had been frozen and quickly defrosted in a microwave, rather freshly baked, with that nice crusty/crunchy feel. Pork steak was nice and fresh vegetables served as sides were also very nice, but portions were very small and found it strange too be told I can only have Pork steak Medium or Well done.....this a first for me....I would rather not have it medium...just fully cooked is fine for me.
Breakfast was also disappointing. On arrival there was no warm welcome from the maître d’, barley made eye contact and just for a a room number, very impersonal approach, even after we offered a good morning ourselves.
While the breakfast selection was really good and catered well for all ages and dietary requirements, this was overshadowed by serious hygiene and cross-contamination concerns. A male staff member topping up the buffet was repeatedly walking around the restaurant eating food himself, handling buffet items with visibly greasy and dirty hands, and leaving handprints on serving cutlery.
As a fellow hospitality worker, I politely challenged him on this and explained this was very unprofessional, He was unable to respond due to having a mouthful of food and instead aggressively mumbled somthing at me, waved me away and walked off. I informed the manager, who said he would speak to the staff member, but the behaviour continued. The same staff member continued to walk around eating and at times looked aggressively towards me and my family, which made us feel uncomfortable.
Upon check out, I did discuss the above with the FOH team member, he offered very little in way of an apology or at the very least could have asked the Duty manager to come and discuss all of the above but felt like there was no real desire take that last oppurtunity to leave a guest feeling a little less frasutrated and disappointed with their stay.
While the accommodation, pool facilities, and outdoor spaces were excellent, the restaurant experience and lack of basic hygiene standards were extremely disappointing, feel there a lot of customer service work to be done, feel like we did not get value for money."
