"The first time we stayed at this hotel was in 2018, during our honeymoon. Everything was perfect: the food was very tasty, everything was always very clean, and the ocean view was stunning. Since then, every time we come to Tenerife we choose a hotel from the Hovima chain, and we’ve recommended this hotel to all our friends as well. We also came with several family members in 2022, and by then we already knew about the Hovima Club, so we booked through the official website.
This year we returned again to Jardin Caleta, me, my husband, and our 4-year-old child. We also booked through the Hovima Club membership. When we arrived at the hotel, we had to wait several hours to check in, even though other people were arriving in the meantime and they were getting their room keys instantly. After we finally received the key to our superior room, we had to go back to reception because it didn’t work. On top of that, the superior room wasn’t any different from the comfort room, and although the website showed a sea view, we only had a partial sea view. But honestly, that still didn’t upset us, because we already had a good opinion about this hotel.
When we made the reservation, the website mentioned that for stays longer than 3 nights we would receive a welcome gift, but we didn’t receive anything. And I know they offer one; at least last year at La Pinta we got one and we were pleasantly surprised.
We booked full board, but this year I don’t even know if breakfast alone was worth it. The food was very limited, not varied at all, and sometimes the restaurant had a strong vinegar smell. At lunch the food was almost nonexistent in general—I don’t understand why you should pay for full board if there’s no food at lunchtime. Besides that, we had Full Board+, which means that at lunch and dinner we’re supposed to have one drink included (juice, wine, beer). Thankfully we could get still or sparkling water ourselves, because the waiters never came to our table, they completely ignored us. We even had evenings when we were sitting right next to them and could see how they served other people but not us.
The only thing that remained the same was the room cleaning—thank you to the housekeeping ladies who cleaned our room.
And the worst part was that we had cockroaches in the bathroom. We noticed them on the last night, and since it was already late we didn’t change rooms, but I couldn’t sleep at all that night.
We definitely won’t be returning to this hotel again, even though we’ve been part of the Hovima Club for about 5 years, and every year we brought friends and family with us, so we always had 2–3 rooms booked. We didn’t see any advantage from that at all. Honestly, we felt more welcomed when we booked through an agency than now, booking directly on the official website."
