"We booked a very last-minute trip to Jutlandia Apartments in Santa Ponsa – literally about two weeks before flying out – for a 4-night stay. We originally booked the sister hotel across the road, Plazamar Serenity, but when we arrived at around 1am, we were told it had closed for the season and that we’d be moved to Jutlandia. At first, this worried us however, within minutes of checking in, every bit of concern disappeared and by the end of the stay we were genuinely happy it worked out this way. Jutlandia completely exceeded expectations. This is quite possibly the longest review I have written and with good reason, Jutlandia is remarkable and we will be returning. Apologies if I got any names wrong as it has been a few weeks since our return.
Pros
•Exceptional staff – above and beyond 5-star service. We met three members of staff who genuinely cared and are an asset to the company. Unfortunately, we didn’t get their names, so apologies in advance:
• Firstly, the Spanish gentleman at Plazamar Serenity’s reception who greeted us at 1am was honestly a breath of fresh air at such an early hour. Cheerful, warm, and incredibly helpful. He gave great advice and set a really positive tone for the whole trip.
• Over at Jutlandia, the gentleman from Nigeria on reception was just as brilliant. Friendly, helpful, and sorted a taxi for our return journey that saved us a huge amount compared with Uber. Proper customer care.
• And finally, the English gentleman at Jutlandia, who I believe was a manager. One of our little ones spilled a milkshake all over the bed and was really upset. This man handled it with kindness, reassurance, and even made our son laugh about it. You just don’t expect that level of personal care from a 3-star hotel – it truly felt like 5-star service.
These three were outstanding and really elevated the whole experience.
• Halloween theme done perfectly. We visited during the Halloween period and the decorations and activities were fun without being over the top. A great balance for families.
• Very kid-friendly. From the entertainment to the pools to the general atmosphere – this place is ideal for families with young children.
• Smaller, intimate feel. It isn’t a huge resort and that’s part of its charm. It feels cosy, friendly and special rather than overwhelming or crowded.
• Clean and tidy rooms. The rooms were basic but had everything we needed – lots of towels, good storage and lovely cold air-con. Our balcony overlooked the pool, which was a nice bonus.
• Spotlessly clean everywhere. Not just the rooms – the communal areas, walkways, poolside, everything was immaculate. Shoutout to the Filipino cleaners too, who were friendly and clearly took pride in their work.
• Great pool areas. There’s a main pool and separate kids’ pools with slides and water play areas. Lifeguards were always on standby. The water was a little cold but that didn’t stop the kids from loving every second.
• Snack bar food – pricey but very good. We were self-catering but tried the snack bar a few times. Chips, patatas bravas, pizza… all really nice and cooked well. The kids enjoyed it too.
• No sunbed wars. A small thing but makes a massive difference. There’s a pile of sunbeds you just help yourself to and we never struggled to find space.
• Hotel never felt overcrowded. Even though it was fully booked, it never felt cramped. Plenty of space around the pool and in the common areas.
BUT - The highlight of the entire holiday: the entertainment team – Saul & Leo (apologies if the names are wrong - they know who they are)!
We honestly can’t praise these two enough. They made our children’s holiday. They made our holiday. Every evening started with a mini disco, and Saul and Leo threw themselves into it with full enthusiasm. They pulled every child in, got them involved and brought so much energy and fun to the stage. Our kids adored them.
At one point, we were walking towards the beach away from the hotel and happened to see Leo driving to work and our kids waved excitedly. He gave them a huge warm smile and wave back – little moments like that meant the world to them.
Saul made a real effort to make sure the kids received medals before we left, which they treasured as a little keepsake. He made them feel like little princes and even gave one to my wife and I. A genuinely lovely person.
The Halloween haunted house across the road was brilliant (even though our 3-year-old was absolutely terrified by Saul dressed as a creepy old man!). But again – they somehow managed to make even the scares part of the fun atmosphere.
Throughout the night, they were constantly making balloon animals, lighting fireworks, releasing balloons, cracking jokes and keeping everyone entertained. All done with big smiles and genuine passion for what they do.
The nighttime shows they organised were fantastic –
• Magic and flamenco show
• Dance/play performance
• Fire spinning show
Each act was theatrical, engaging, and perfect for families. The outdoor stage gave everything a lovely atmosphere. We’ve stayed in 4- and 5-star resorts with entertainment nowhere near the quality, warmth, or passion of these two. Jutlandia are incredibly lucky to have them.
Cons (not many at all):
• Shower temperature fluctuates – it goes hot and cold for a bit before settling. Slightly annoying but manageable.
• Sofa beds aren’t very comfortable – fine for small children, but older kids or adults would struggle.
• Cutlery could have been cleaner – everything else was spotless, so this may have been a small oversight.
• One female bar staff member felt a bit cold – not rude, just not as warm as everyone else, especially compared with how exceptional the rest of the staff were.
• Beer was a bit flat – not the end of the world, just worth mentioning
Overall - This was supposed to be a simple last-minute getaway and it ended up being one of the most enjoyable family breaks we’ve had. Warm, genuine staff, spotless facilities, great entertainment and a lovely atmosphere – Jutlandia gave us everything we needed and more.
Easy 5 stars. We’d return in a heartbeat."
