"I decided to travel to Las Palmas last-minute, and my usual hotel was fully booked, so I had to look elsewhere. Lemon & Soul has a great location and moderate prices, and I decided to check them out.
When you book, do note that some booking sites still refer to it by the old name, Hotel Atlanta, but reservations will be honoured so there is nothing to worry about as long as you find the building. The old name is not signposted anywhere.
I sent an email to the hotel the day before to let them know my time of arrival, and received a friendly reply within hours. While they could not guarantee an early check-in at 1 pm, on arrival the friendly receptionist did get me my room at 1:30, which was much appreciated. While waiting, I had a quick bite to eat at the Cafetera cafeteria in the same building. Officially, check-in is at 3 pm and check-out at noon.
My room on the 2nd floor came with a street view. Make sure to ask, because some rooms only have small windows opening to an interior ventilation shaft! Overall, the condition of the room was okay. It had been renovated but showed some wear and tear already. Nothing major, though. The room felt clean, but do note that the cleaning lady only visits every other day. Wifi was free, fast, unlimited, reliable and easy to use.
The room came with two comfortable single beds pushed together. There were sockets by the bed, even a UK socket for foreigners. While the room was of good size for a three-star, there was only a desk and chair, but no armchair and coffee table even if there was ample room for that. No luggage rack, but I got one on request. Good AC, very quiet, yet effective. There was a fridge, a safe, and a 0.5 L water bottle provided on arrival, not replenished.
The bathroom was of good size and came with a walk-in shower. Water pressure both in the handheld as well as the overhead shower was excellent and hot water ample. Adjusting the temperature was not always easy. Amenities included a bar of soap as well as two wall-mounted containers: hand soap and a combined hair & body soap. No conditioner, no body lotion and no further amenities such as dental or shaving kits. The sink had ample room for your toiletries.
There is no restaurant and thus no breakfast provided at the hotel, but they are in the process of opening a restaurant on the ground floor where the excellent Mama Moderna restaurant used to be. They cooperate with a nearby café for breakfast arrangements but I decided to have buffet brekafast at a nearby hotel instead.
I found all members of staff friendly and accommodating, and everyone spoke English well. The hotel is located a few steps from the beach and a five-minute walk away from Parque Santa Catalina. The airport bus is a ten-minute walk away. While Lemon & Soul is not my first choice in Las Palmas, I might well be back if it so happens that my first choice is unavailable."
