"i stayed at hotel elba carlota for new years eve and can say was quite disappointed. we arrived on new year’s eve, and weren’t made aware of the ‘long pants rule’ for the new years gala dinner. (even jet 2 said when we spoke to them it’s not very well advertised) all we got from the hotel was ‘it’s advertised in the lifts’ but how can we see the lifts from at home before we come? when we were made aware of the long pants rule, we went to speak to reception and asked if there would be any way we would be allowed in for the gala dinner, as the boys were still dressed smart with smart shorts and a shirt. we were told no. we then asked if they could atleast bring food out for the youngest in our group who had just turned 16 (it was his birthday that day, we’d travelled all day and he was hungry, we said the rest of us could wait til the following day). we were again told no to this. the hotel then said they’d ’given us options’ to which i asked what the options were and they said ‘wear long pants or you don’t eat’ which i think was awful that they refused to accommodate. i then tried to take the 16 year old to maccies down the road which was closed, he was tired and hungry and the hotel did not care about this. they then told us to return the following morning to speak to the manager, which we did only to be told the guy we’d spoke to the evening before was already the manager and he wasn’t willing to speak to us about it. it was not a nice first night start to our holiday however we overlooked it and didn’t let it ruin it straight away for us.
the hotel is overall nice to look at, the rooms are standard and cleaned (although the towels were taken from my room and when i went up for a shower i had no towels and asked the cleaner for some and she said ‘no later’ and when i said i needed to have a shower now she shrugged and walked off).
the entertainment team were great we can not fault them. however you can tell the hotel would rather put their money into making the hotel look nice rather than things like resources for the likes of the entertainment team, proper staffing etc.
i saw on another review that the hotel denied sacking a member of the entertainment team due to an incident that happened a few nights into our stay. this incident was between another family and was dragged on for hours, got violent and things broken, and the hotel still allowed them to stay, even after the male who was causing the problems was arrested for the night and spent the night in the cells. the hotel overlooked the problems they had caused, and the distress it had caused for people staying in the hotel, and instead they sacked a very good member of the entertainment team. the hotel will deny this again as they did on a previous review, however i am a personal friend of the entertainer who they sacked, and can clarify, and so can many other people, that the hotel did let him go following this incident. the entertainer diffused the situation the best he could and only did what majority of the people staying in the hotel wanted to do! a lot of people were sad to find that the hotel did this to this particular member of the entertainment team as he was very bubbly and people loved his role at the hotel. shame on the hotel for doing this.
the food was not great, mostly fish all the time and there isn’t something for everyone to eat, we ate out of the hotel every night, and didn’t eat in the hotel once; maybe the odd breakfast.
glasses were still dirty each time we would go for a drink at breakfast, which i took photos of. we would spend a lot of time searching for a clean glass and still wouldn’t find one.
about half way through our stay, the 16 year old in our group was playing basketball at the basketball court, to be met with pure aggression from a french lady from on her balcony. i went to go and check what was wrong with him to hear him being screamed at by this guest shouting ‘you bast*rd, i will make sure something bad happens to you tomorrow’ to which i shouted back up to her that he is a child and if she’d like to come down and have this conversation with me then she can do. this woman came down to me assuming i was a child, im 5ft 6 and she was 6ft 2 (taller than my dad) she started to get aggressive with me until she realised that i was not a child too and that i won’t back down to her nor allow her to speak to my brother like that. i raised this problem to the reception and made them aware she had made threats towards my 16 year old brother who is a child and it’s not acceptable. all they said is ‘she won’t do anything’ okay 🙄
when we saw this lady the following day and my dad said to her not to make threats to his children or call him a bast*rd because he is their dad she just said ‘well what else am i supposed to say you should be in hospital’
i don’t understand why people at this hotel feel the need to be so rude. your on holiday… we didn’t let the incidents with the hotel ruin our holiday but one thing i will say is that we will not be returning, and many people who have stayed there every year for years have said the same thing also; that the hotel has gone awful.
management team at this hotel really need to reconsider how they do and deal with things as they don’t have their guests best interests at heart and are more bothered about the hotel looking a bit pretty as you walk in, than how your actual stay is with them.
it’s a no from me 👎🏻"
