"We have just come back from our holiday and we have had such a lovely relaxing week. Agadir in Morocco is great - there's plenty to do if you want to get out and do excursions, but the provision of the hotel meant we were perfectly happy to stay around the pool and relax.
The hotel has 7 floors, split between 2 buildings and we were on the top floor facing the mountain with the fortress. It is in a bustling area, so can be noisy, but is a 2 minute walk to the beach where there's a reserved area for hotel guests and walkable to the marina (although there wasn't that much there). The rooms themselves were modern and comfortable (although the mattresses were very firm and the rooms could do with a few hooks to hang towels and a dryer for wet swim stuff). The pool was nice enough, but definitely could have done with being a bit warmer to make it more inviting! The waterslides definitely looked better in the photos, and are not always on but as we went in term time this was understandable and they turned them on when we asked - just be aware that the racer slides can splash if you're sat near them! They are good slides though and provided a lot of fun for my 9yr old. Pick your sunbed carefully too as you can quickly find yourself unwittingly in the shade.
The animation were really lovely and work SO hard - shout out to Yoyo, Anowar, Marwan, Samati, Mouss, Souki, Soso and Quisok - they provided an assortment of activities through the day time which was good fun for all ages, always joking, laughing and chatting with the guests and speaking lots of different languages, as well as hosting the after dinner evening entertainment. I thought they did a particularly great job at persuading people to get involved, so hats off to them!
Housekeeping made up our room beautifully each day and it was always a delight to come in and see what fun way they had arranged the bed runners.
The dining room and bar staff were always so friendly and helpful, nothing felt like too much trouble, and kudos to the catering team and chefs as the food was AMAZING. I do not understand how anyone here could complain about the food - there was always lots of fresh salads, delicious fruits (the persimmons particularly!) And the hot food looked great. Enough beige food to keep my 9 year old son happy and enough colourful fresh stuff to appeal to me (and occasionally tempt him with too!)
Reception were always nice, though check in was a little chaotic, you good see they were just overwhelmed with a rush of people.
Things we LOVED
- Food
- Water Slides
- WiFi in the room
- Staff
- Activities
Things that could be improved
- Accessibility for the pool and snack bar (there's no smooth ramp to the snack bar, the sun loungers are placed very close to the edge of the pool, and the pool itself has no gradual steps, just ladders, so was difficult to get in for anyone with accessibility/disabled needs).
- Pool temperature
- Pool design - there's a splash area for very little kids, but no shallow end for inbetweeny kids to swim in - my son is tall and can swim, but this would have been scary as a parent a few years ago when he couldn’t!
- Smoother check in experience
Overall, a lovely and very affordable holiday for some winter sunshine.
If you don't like being hassled or haggling, Morocco may not be for you, but this hotel was really great and we had a brilliant time."
