"Well what can we say we have just spent 3 weeks in the seagull apartments in Panera just as we have many years previous and always felt welcomed and George and his staff always friendly always helpful and always very accommodating.
New manager took our booking over 12 month ago we booked two rooms together with a shared balcony and the booking form stated those exact rooms perfect right , confirmation papers arrived and rooms were stated 301 and 302 great , we know the layout of all rooms are exactly the same these two just had the shared balcony which was the only difference and because people in our party had mobility issues this was the perfect solution if we weren’t able to get out as we could still socialise together in a good space. Fast forward
We arrived late at night,only night porter,nothing strange about that. We booked in he gave us our room keys this is where it is not so perfect. Given 2 rooms opposite sides of the hotel not even together. Explained and showed the paperwork we had and was told and I quote “We allocate you take.The rooms you booked are not available must be a problem with them you speak to manager in the morning”.
Morning came spoke to manager who was rude and very hostile said hotel was full so couldn’t do anything about it ask me every day if you want but we are full . We asked for a compromise and at least to put us in rooms together but again was the same answer. Not a good start to our holiday. Things did not improve, in our room we had bedside lamps that were actually glued to the bedside tables, they were rusty with old wires and actually didn’t work, our mini cooker was wired up with the flex taped together,there were no plugs for the sink or bath we had 4 coat hangers in the wardrobe. None of which were available at reception so we unplugged the lamps, didn’t use the cooker and bought both plugs and coat hangers ourselves. (We did try for accommodation elsewhere in the area but all was full ) . Next morning the fridge had frozen everything from milk to butter and cheese ham yogurts fruit etc. and the hairdryer was faulty. Reported this to receptionist. On returning later the hairdryer had been replaced and the fridge looked at. A good result .Next morning everything in fridge frozen yet again reported a second time. On returning later our accommodation door had been left unlocked wow . Anyone could have entered.The fridge had been turned off and the door left open defrosted all over the floor which we were left to clean. Next morning the receptionist asked if fridge was ok to which my husband replied no actually it’s still the same. He was told NO it’s fixed and you caused it by putting things on the top shelf. Really. My husband turned to speak to the manager who blatantly turned his back and walked away. My husband followed and tapped his shoulder said good morning to which the manager arrogantly answered good evening and walked off. Gobsmacked is an understatement. We never got good vibes. We were never given any eye contact no smiles no good mornings for the rest of our stay. A barrier was definitely put up and all the staff stood behind that very barrier which made it a very uncomfortable stay.Not wanting more confrontation we turned off the fridge every evening and switched it back on the following morning. It worked for us maybe the next guest got it sorted who knows. This place is in desperate need of an upgrade but has done for a number of years however it is clean and offers a good outdoor pool space although this is now becoming very rundown with lack of sun loungers and tatty umbrellas with dirty side tables and the pool was never cleaned other than one bucket of chemicals in the 3 weeks we were there. Everything was broken no music no kids shower mushroom (in the pool), no jacuzzi, broken Sunbeds and missing umbrellas or umbrellas that were shredded. No maintenance is being performed to put these things right. Don’t advertise things that aren’t available and Please please please put in some polite cheerful happy to help staff someone that actually appreciates the guests that have paid to stay there who by the way pay their wages. If you do book and believe you have a specific room don’t expect to be allocated what is in your confirmation paperwork this manager is not only rude and arrogant he has no people skills in fact he is an absolute joke. After years of returning, this year we give this place minus 5 stars it needs some serious consideration for a manager that actually cares and wants to make it work."
