Melia Cala Galdana

"So this was our 3rd time in Melia Cala Galdana first being 2022 then 2024 and now 2025. The first two times, there were issues but they were somewhat fixed after we complained. This third time however was AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER. First of all, I booked a "The Level Suite Cala Galdana" which is supposed to be on the 8th floor and 8th floor only with a great view and a very specific configuration. What happened is, as time passed (from February to July), I periodically checked the rates of this specific room to see if we got a great deal as these days paying 652 Euros for a suite at that level seemed to good to be true. Surely enough, the rate like a growth stock went from 650 to 850 to eventually 1150 before being sold out. As we arrived to check in (at 2pm), we were told our room was not ready to we hung out at the level lobby (already unfair as a 3rd time visiting customer who spent a good amount of money in your hotel already). Then the lady came and tried to give us a room a floor above that was an "upgrade" from the room we had which was total bs because the room had horrible views but had an extra bedroom for kids etc. They knew as well as we did that they sold our room at a higher rate and tried to "upgrade (downgrade)" us, I complained after half my day was ruined and the manager agreed to put us in the original room we were booked in but for the next day not that day. We had to sleep in that downgrade room and he promised to "comp" our dinner which he only agreed when we asked and the dinner was only 150 EUR which is nothing for someone who is paying 650 EUR for the room, they refused to comp the alcohol (its not like they have a collection of tignanellos, they had garbage 60 EUR wines). Some extra about the SWITCH AND BAIT room: fridge was semi broken therefore it did not close. Second day we got the room we were supposed to, there the problems continued: - Housekeeping didnt put any shampoo - Housekeeping forgot to HOUSEKEEP, the room was dirty for the duration of the stay The problems by the pool: - Pool towel lady is super rude as if you are lucky to be in the level pool area refusing to give towels - Sunbeds taken by 12pm at the beach so you almost have 0 chance to get a sunbed unless you go by 10am or send someone down The problems with taxi/town - This is a very very very VITAL point I cannot STRESS enough; The hotel will tell you its easy to get a taxi back from town but actually there is a 75 people waiting line and when you have a flight 5 hours after dinner, you are in a pretty bad situation (I had to tip a taxi who was about to get off duty 100 EUR to drop us back to the hotel) The taxi the hotel called to the airport REFUSED to take a credit card and bullied into giving cash otherwise he was gonna make a scene etc. In conclusion, if you have a choice and the money, try Gran Melia in this island but I m guessing it isnt much different. The public equity of Melia has been declining rapidly much like the quality of their hotels, with the amount of competitors offering more/better services, I d say save your money and go to St Tropez, Ibiza, Mykonos, or any other island for 650 EUR a night, many decent hotels out there."

"We had a lovely 8 day holiday here. We'd booked a Junior Suite on the Level, and we're given an upgrade to a suite with full front sea view - very much appreciated! The suite was very good, spacious, well equipped, and kept beautifully clean by the Housekeeping team. All the staff were delightful, smiley and helpful, particularly those on reception. It was well worth opting for the Level, in our opinion, as it was less crowded and more relaxed than the main restaurant. Snacks and drinks were available from midday onwards, always plenty of choice. So why only 4 stars given? Reluctantly, I have to say it was because of the evening meals in the buffet. It was always lukewarm, at best, and on one occasion I chose a chicken dish which was stone cold. This was the same with all the dishes - meat, vegetables, sauces, quiches etc. It didn't help that the plates were usually cold as well. I have waited a couple of weeks before posting a review, as the hotel was lovely and we did have a relaxing holiday. We were hugely appreciative of the upgrade we received, and the staff were very friendly a d helpful. But the food really was a disappointing."

"We stayed in a Level Suite, when we arrived we were shown to the Level reception. Very easy check-in. The suite was gorgeous, very clean and exceptional views. The only issue we had was the neighbours, they smoked out on the balcony so couldn’t sit out there or leave the door open due to the smell. We booked 1/2 board, big mistake !! Even though there was enough food it was just about lukewarm so by the time you got to the table it was cold. This was the same with breakfast unless you had something freshly cooked. We choose to have breakfast on the level most mornings as the main restaurant was so busy, but the food on the level was the same. Lukewarm or cold. I don’t enjoy a cold poached egg in the morning 🤮. I also want to make a shout out to Abel who was always so friendly when he served us.And Fanny on the Level reception who was extremely professional & helpful. The adult pool was a great peaceful and tranquil area to chill. Overall the hotel is in a beautiful location but not a quite a 5 star, we would go back for a long weekend only and without the 1/2 board."
