"Just back from a 10 night stay. We had a really nice time.
Hotel spotlessly clean
Staff were so nice and friendly
Plenty of sunbeds and areas to sunbathe
Great facilities for kids
Great location
Terrible food sadly hence the 3 rating
Our room 425 overlooked the garden and kids play area facing west so nice sunny balcony. Check in was good and very friendly. Our room wasn't ready as we arrived very early so she said we could leave our luggage in the luggage room and go and have lunch. They text us when our room was ready. Also need to pay a €50 deposit which can be paid by card. The room was lovely. Huge with plenty of storage, safe (€2 per day) and fridge. There was a kettle and cups. We had bought some coffee and tea bags so just went and bought some milk from the Broncemar shop up the road which was cheaper and had a better selection than the onsite shop. The beds were comfortable and a quiet room so was able to get a good night's sleep. Good air con too, not freezing cold. The beds had duvets on with really good quality, high thread count cotton and very comfortable. Lovely. The bathroom had a huge walk in shower but had not been renovated as well as the bedroom. Needed regrouting as black mould marks and back of door needed painting. Also a door stop would have been good to stop door banging. But other than that was great shower.
2 English channels, bbc news and sky news on the TV but we don't go on holiday to watch tv so it was good just to keep up to date with what is going on in the world. If you have mobility issues some of the rooms can be a long way to walk as it is a huge hotel. Also, glad we did not have a room overlooking the entertainment area (rooms ending 50 to 85 on any floor overlook the noisy area). Noisey music all day then of course the entertainment up until 11.30pm. Would have driven me mad.
This is the first hotel I have been to where there is no mad dash for the sunbeds. Very few reserve them early morning and this was lovely. Plenty of sunbeds too any time of day. The pool and pool bar opens 10am to 6pm. There are two main pools, the noisy one and the quiet one so you have a choice.
Loved that this hotel is no smoking. Only place to smoke/vape is outside front entrance or out the back. Smoke free round pools and entertainment area. Unfortunately there were a few people that thought it was OK to have a sneaky suck on their vape. Maybe OK for you but it still stinks. Also, someone smoking on balcony near us.
There is a free shuttle bus to the beach which goes every hour on the hour 9am to 3pm and returns at quarter to the hour. Saves a 15 minute stroll. 20 minute stroll to the Yumbo center.
Everything else was great but the food is just awful in my opinion. Worst all Inc food I have ever been to. After the 4th day we ate out. The soup looked terrible, the sauces for the pasta had skin on it and just looked rank. The cheese looked like it had been out and uncovered for hours, dry and crispy on the edges and what wasn't dry was all sweaty. The rest of the food just did not look at all appetising. Lots of choice but no quality. Desserts and fruit choice was very good as were the lovely cakes they were delicious. Also, there was a microwave if you did want to heat up any of the food a little more. We gave up on the food after day 4 but breakfast wasn't too bad, although we did stick to the uncooked offering. We avoided the hot selection. Having said that, plenty of people were tucking in so just our preference. First time back from an all inclusive and lost weight so not all bad.
Bus stop to most places turn right onto main road then next left or right by broncemar supermarket (left and down hill 100 yards best choice as more likely to get a seat) number 32 goes to Puerto Mogan 30 minutes away €4.15 each way. Beautiful place for a trip out. Friday is market day so very busy.
Really although we didn't like the food, I would go back again as value for money even without the evening meal, good location, lovely staff and facilities. Unfortunately, I think we had some money taken from our room on the sunday. Only a tiny bit of loose change that I had left on the side about €2.5 which was not placed to look like a tip so couldn't have been taken in error. I'm not 100% sure but I tend to leave change behind until evening time as we had no need for it by the pool. But 1% doubt stopped me reporting it. Not our room cleaners as they were lovely ladies and I don't think it is worth them risking their jobs for a bit of loose change.
The hotels public spaces are beautiful with lovely furnishing, bright and clean. The hall carpets look like they have all recently replaced. It looks as though the hotel has nearly been completely refurbished just the walls in the halls to do.
Pools were in good condition but so cold. I think the big pools were heated very slightly but the spa pools were freezing sadly so never went for a swim. The area around the pools are kept clean. They leave plenty of box's to put your empty drinks glasses which most people did clear up after themselves, just a few that left glasses and plates behind when they left.
Entertainment - because we went out to eat we only saw 2 acts, lady with a violin and a man singing. Both were very good. There is something on every night. Kids disco at 8pm each night.
Because of the location, rooms and staff, value fir money I would go back to this hotel if I visited Gran Canaria again but would just know to eat out for evening meals as on average dinner and a bottle of wine cost us average €35 euros for 2 of us."
