"H10 Costa Mogán, Gran Canaria
We stayed here for one week in October 2025. We have stayed at a few H10 hotels both in Gran Canaria and Lanzarote and find them one of the best brands of hotel we have used. However, this one has a mixed review from us.
The reason that we chose this hotel is, H10 brand, Location, we knew the area where it was and liked that it was right on the beach with sea views, it is Adults only, and smaller than the usual hotels we have stayed in.
Firstly, although it is an H10 hotel, and there are various places in the Hotel advertising signing up to become members and get rewards, it doesn’t give anything to H10 members, no exclusive benefits, welcome gift etc. In previous hotels they’ve always left a welcome gift in our room, chocolates & bottle of Cava for instance. When I mentioned this at Customer Service the man said we don’t do that, but asked me whether I had an envelope left in our room inviting us for a “free drink?” I told him I had nothing at all. However, what was the point of that, as were on All Inclusive board, so we already have “free” drinks?
The location of hotel is right on the beach, but it is a quite a shingly beach, you can walk out a glass door from the pool area onto this beach, but pushing by often
large groups of people staying at the hotel who were smoking, as the smoker’s area was right beside the gate. They also use the floor both inside and outside the gate to throw their cigarette butts. There are two nice coves about five minutes’ walk from the door and we used to walk down there to swim in the sea, which was lovely. If you were a bit adventurous you could walk around the two coves and a rather rough rocky corner to Amadores.
Another strange thing is the hotel is one half of a long block, which was obviously originally one complete block. I was told that H10 had bought half a couple of years ago, but a consortium owned the other half and some are residential and some Airbnb. The only slight irritation is there is just a hedge between the H10 hotel pool and the residential side’s pool. So, it can be quite noisy with children playing there, which is a pity as we chose an adult only hotel so as not to have squealing children beside us. The pool area was served by a bar, also if you are All Inclusive help yourself to beer pumps and soft drink and water all on tap, also hot drinks. The bar served wine – red, white & rose. Also snacks.
There is a really nice roof top sky bar on the fifth floor. It had a great view of the sea and coastline. There is no roof on the area, but good sun loungers there with thick mattresses and weirdly enough two showers but no toilets up there! That bar shut at 7pm which was a shame as it was a nice place to sit for a drink before dinner.
The main lounge bar and area are on the ground floor near the pool café. The room itself is not very big, but lots of loungers, tables and chairs outside where the evening entertainment took place. That is the only place to sit in the evening and when it rained, as it did one afternoon and evening there is nowhere to go so you must go and sit in your room. This is very poor and we didn’t go on holiday to sit in our room. There is a sort of roof over the bar outside seating area, but it is like cane poles or similar so the rain pours though it! Another strange thing, late one night after the entertainment ended at 11pm, we were sat talking to another couple in the area adjacent to the bar, when a security guard came up to us and told us we must go inside as he was locking the doors in ten minutes. Made us feel like naughty children and not very pleasant at all.
Our room was well cleaned every day and quite quirky. The room is spacious and long so you enter a sort of lounge area with a big sofa bed and wall mounted TV, the next area is open shelves and hanging rail, opposite is a wash basin and sliding door into the loo. The toilet it too low and my knees struggled and the toilet roll is on a holder quite a way behind the actual toilet so difficult to reach. The wash basin was not very user friendly as it had a steep slope into it so not much water could go in until it overflowed. Then there was a large shower cubicle, right in the middle of the room and beyond a double (or two singles) bed and another large wall mounted TV, then out to the small balcony overlooking the pool and sea. There was a coffee pod machine in the room and three pods. We were told that after that we had to buy more pods! Really?
Food was quite good with a selection which did not vary much over the week we were there. I am gluten- free and had mentioned this when booking and at check-in. No advice was given so I had to ask staff every day what I could have to eat as a lot of the foods were not labelled. It varied in their understanding and offerings and became a bit difficult. Basically, they gave me bread or toast, an occasional muffin, GF cornflakes and if I asked in advance, I could have pasta or a pizza. I had both once and both were very good. Main issue was the food was mostly lukewarm or cold. Bowls of chips, for example were under the heated lighted counter, but that obviously did not work as they were always cold. When selecting your food and sitting down to eat the last thing you want to do is go back to ask for freshly cooked hot chips and then stand and wait for them to be cooked while the rest of your food gets cold. The freshly cooked chips were then thrown into the bowl on top of the cold ones! Unfortunatley we could never find a warm plate for our food, so resorted in heating our plates in the one and only microwave. Three times over the week I had raw meat off the grill. It is cooked in batches and looked cooked on the outside but twice with pork and once with chicken they were pink and raw in the middle! I did not see anything being probed or checked for temperature during our week there. Also the salads, cooked meat, fish & prawns were put out and left for the whole time the restaurant was open. I believe that the dishes of prawns etc. should have been on a cold display counter or ice, and removed and replaced after an hour or so as they were
on open plates and bowls for over two hours, while people leaned over them, coughing etc. There were never quite enough serving tools and tongs so people had to use the same ones for helping themselves to salad, fish, meat etc.
There is a small restaurant called Costa Fusion where you can book one visit per week on All Inclusive board. The meal was many small portions of beautifully designed dishes of food each one explained by the lady who served us. We went there with another couple who were celebrating their wedding anniversary that day. The service was so slow though, as we had booked for and arrived at 19:15 and although it was by no means full, we still had not received our main course by 21:00! All the previous courses had been cold so there should have been no problem cooking the main course, which was fish or ribs, and in fact the older couple we were there with us, decided to leave so did not even get their meal!
The things we enjoyed were the people. The staff (apart from two) were brilliant. Helpful and smiles and friendly. The Animation Team was only one person, a chap called Isaias. He was amazing, came and chatted to us every day, remembered our names and asking how we were. He worked so hard pleasing everybody from morning to late evening when he could be seen helping setting up for evening entertainers. Because of his friendly and smiling personality we took part in quite a few of his activities including Water polo, Archery, Boules on the beach, Darts and Bingo. This was particularly good as to play you scanned a QR Code and downloaded the app. So, every number he called came up on the screen, which saved a lot of confusion with different pronunciation.
We also made quite a few friends during our week there. Everyone was so nice and friendly, we really enjoyed it. This may be because it wasn’t a big impersonal hotel.
It is in a quite quiet location but just across the square, there is a roundabout where lots of busses pass and stop very frequently. For just 1.40 € you can catch a bus to Puerto de Mogán which is beautiful and has a very large street market on a Friday. From there you can take a Ferry ride along the coast to Puerto Rico for just 13 € per person return fare. Or continue all the way to Arguineguin and enjoy the coastline views. Then catch a bus back."
