"My husband and myself had a fabulous 5 night stay at this beautiful hotel. It was perfect from the moment we arrived. The staff is very friendly and helpful The rooms are well appointed and extremely clean, We enjoyed the breakfast on the terrace, which was also perfect. The pool is small, but we never had a problem getting a chair when we wanted one. I was not in Malaga to sunbath. Also, the location could not be any better. It is so quiet in the hotel and when you walk out you are in the center of everything. Perfect stay all around!"

"We were incredibly excited to visit beautiful Málaga, Spain, for a long-overdue reunion with family we hadn’t seen in years. After reading glowing reviews and seeing that Palacio Solecio is listed as a Small Luxury Hotel (SLH), we cancelled another confirmed reservation and instead booked two deluxe Palacio rooms with Juliette balconies overlooking the historic streets of Málaga. Big mistake. We arrived only to learn from our son—not the hotel—that the property was under active construction. Upon check-in, we were shocked to find the facade entirely covered with scaffolding and a massive screen. Our “deluxe” balcony rooms overlooked garbage bins, ladders, backpacks, and building tools, not charming old streets. The balcony doors didn’t even have handles. Workers were outside our windows throughout the day, which meant we had to keep our curtains closed for privacy. What’s most upsetting is that we received an email from the hotel two days before arrival—and yet they failed to mention any of this ongoing construction. Had we been informed, we absolutely would have kept our other original hotel reservation. We expressed our dissatisfaction upon arrival, but the staff were dismissive. They refused to acknowledge it as “construction,” instead calling it “restoration,” as if that somehow excused the disruption. No refund was offered. We were shown dark, windowless rooms (a massive downgrade) and offered a mere discount. Thankfully, we walked to the hotel we had originally cancelled—though they were nearly full, they were kind enough to accommodate us for five nights. The difference in service and atmosphere was night and day. Palacio Solecio misrepresented their property and failed to communicate critical information. Our long-awaited family trip was compromised, and there was zero accountability or effort to make things right. We expected much more from a hotel that carries the SLH label. If you are thinking about hotels in Malaga and aren't sure whether to book Palacio Solecio or Gran Miramar, I suggest you don't look any further and definitely book the Gran Miramar!!"

"The location of this hotel is outstanding. In the old town close to all the best tapas bars , museums etc. Extremely comfortable room , pillows , sheets, mattress all high quality. The reason I gave 4 out of 5 is because the first room we were checked into was on the first floor and had noise coming from the restaurant late in the evening and early in the morning. We asked to move rooms. The room we moved to, was on the second floor and extremely quiet. Also a bigger room with more storage. The first room was very small and had very little storage. There is currently scaffolding around the facade of the hotel. This did not bother us but might bother some. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel and return in a heartbeat but I would not stay on the first floor."
