Punta del Rey

"Wow what can i say, fab hotel and i would say great location. We stayed in the annex room as they had air con and we came at what some would say the wrong time of year as Gran Canaria was in an heat wave mid September. The tip i would say worked for us was we booked this time last year and I only upgrade us to the air con room 10 weeks ago and it cost us pennies and I would recommend the air con room. The hotel staff are friendly and its very clean. My son booked to join us but he had his own room but spent most of his days and some nights with us as his room was very hot with just a fan. I would like to come back here. I will say my son is 18 and I did like the adults only hotel. Food was great and well priced even the breakfast buffet at €11.90 per person 😋. Had everything you needed with a small supermarket down the stairs but a killer getting back up in the heat we had 40 degrees some day. Enjoy your stay here as we did."

"Just home from a lovely holiday at Punta del rey it was everything we expected. We knew we had no air con but didn’t expect the high temperatures and the room was unbearably hot at night. The hotel did provide a fan which helped. Leaving the door open at night invited in the flies sent over on the Calima but a word to reception they provided a plug in which helped. The staff are lovely the barman an absolute treat of a man, our daily cleaner Lydia also a veritable gem. All of the reception staff went above to help any enquiry or request. "We stayed at Punta Del Rey for 9 nights and really enjoyed our stay. This is our third time in Puerto Rico, and this hotel did not disappoint! We booked a premium room which came with air conditioning and the most incredible sea and beach views. The non-premium rooms look over the pool, so it depends on what you prefer – but for us, the aircon was well worth it. On arrival, there’s a €20 deposit per room (for robes, aircon remote and TV remote). This is refundable at the end of your stay. The room itself was excellent – well-equipped with a kitchen (crockery, glasses, fridge with small freezer, hob, toaster, sink, storage), comfy beds, and a good-sized bathroom with a powerful shower. I suffer with severe back pain and honestly thought the bed looked worrying at first, but I didn’t have an ounce of discomfort the whole stay! Pillows weren’t an issue for us either. The balcony was a highlight – spacious with two reclining chairs, a large table, and an airer for clothes. Perfect for relaxing with those amazing views. Housekeeping came every other day, with bedding changed once a week. The pool area was fantastic – a great size, all one level, with plenty of comfortable sunbeds available. Best of all, there were no “sunbed wars,” which made it extra relaxing. We had breakfast included, which was a solid buffet: • Cooked options (English-style bacon, sausages, fried/boiled/scrambled eggs, hash browns, baked beans) • Continental (ham, salami, cheese, mini croissants, cakes, toast, yoghurts, cereals, fruit) • Drinks (tea, coffee, apple, orange and pineapple juice). Yes, it was the same each day, so some may find it repetitive – but it was hot, tasty, and plenty to keep you full until lunch. We only ate lunch once at the hotel (omelette & chips, burger & chips, baguette & chips – around €34 for two, without drinks). Prices were fair and portions good. The happy hours (12–1pm & 3–5pm) were a nice bonus with discounted cocktails, beer, wine, spirits and even cider. Drinks in general were reasonably priced and decent quality. Overall, we had a fantastic stay. Punta Del Rey is a solid 3-star adults-only hotel with everything you need for a relaxing break. We’d definitely return on our next trip to Puerto Rico!"
