"We - two adults, a teenager and a child - all really enjoyed the Diamond Boutique Hotel Kos. From the moment we set foot in reception, where we were warmly greeted with a smile and a welcome drink, we were treated very well throughout our week long stay.
Along with the drink, we were handed a map of the island and informed of breakfast times. We were then taken through the gardens to family room 408, which has a living room (with two sofa beds), bathroom and bedroom with a double bed.
There we found a bottle of Greek red wine, cold water and snacks, compliments of the hotel. There are also very nice toiletries, dressing gowns and slippers and a nice little vanity pack containing a nail file, hairband, cotton buds and cotton wool pads.
The rooms are in small blocks built around simple courtyards with beautifully scented olive trees.
Breakfast is served from 7:30-10:30 in a light, airy restaurant with views of the pool, gardens and the mountains in the distance. It's buffet style and there is a lot of choice! Cereal, different types of milk, cakes (Greek orange cake is a breakfast must, naughty but nice), nuts, crepes made to order (a very popular station), 'roasterd bacon' (which gave us a laugh), eggs, traditional Greek country sausage ("loukániko"), pastries, meat, vegetables, salad, fruit and yoghurts.
The restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. Shout out to Xristina and Giannis who chatted with us often.
The bar is beautiful, I loved the decor. I didn't get the names of the bar staff but they were all nice. You have to order a Passion For Caramel!!! It tastes amazing in the Autumn sunshine but, somehow, even better while watching the sun set behind the cypress trees.
The pool area is attractive however only our youngest used it, as it was too cold for us but it IS October! There are plenty of loungers and lots of comfortable seats around. The atmosphere is relaxed with quiet chill out music.
Watch out for the cows and cockerels in the nearby field... They are NOT relaxed! :-D They're really loud and woke me up routinely at 7:30. Haha
We didn't use the restaurant in the evenings so can't comment but the menu looked good and is priced how you might expect for a 4* hotel on a Greek island.
You can use the bicycles provided and pool towels.
The only things I thought could be a bit better (but these are in no way complaints) :
There is a long table / low shelf in the bedroom but no dressing area; it would be ideal to have a mirror here and a stool to get ready, rather than having to stand at the bathroom sink.
The fridge is very small; you can only fit a couple of cartons and / or bottles in there. We were looking to go to a supermarket and get bits for lunch for a few days but you'll have no room to store it. There is also just a kettle (with coffee pods and tea bags) so you can't cook anything, which does bring up the spending costs by a lot as you can't cook any meals. No plates, bowls, etc.
Surprisingly, there is no iron in the room but the lovely Theodora on the reception desk told us you can borrow one when needed. She was also very helpful when I asked where I could find some galaktoboureko (Greek semolina pie) and when I needed to charge a power bank on our last day. And she loves cats, so bonus points there too!
On the subject of cats, there are a few that live on the grounds. They're very friendly and well looked after.
Within walking distance (about 20 mins) of the Diamond Boutique Hotel are the Old Town, the harbour, Lambi beach, the Ancient Agora of Kos, the Odeon, Nerantzia Castle, Hippocrates' tree and some pretty squares. There are so many restaurants here; we visited Lampros Steakhouse, Elia, Opa!, Mes Ogios and Gia Meze.
Thank you to all the staff, from the gardeners, to the cleaning staff, to the wait staff to reception, for a great stay, for our first trip to the beautiful island of Kos.
Ευχαριστώ πολύ."
