Its croissants are\u00a0mindblowing. We\u2019re talking flaky, buttery, melting deliciousness, made fresh to order every day \u2013 exactly the treat you\u2019d hope to find in the French capital.\u00a0<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s where I\u2019m due to meet\u00a0YouTuber\u00a0Alexis\u00a0A\u00efnouz\u00a0this morning. Alex for short. Or French Guy Cooking, if you go by the name of the channel where he shows eager home cooks \u2013 like himself \u2013 how to make classic French dishes to restaurant standard. He arrives on his bike, dressed down in jeans and a\u00a0hoodie, with an ear-to-ear grin that I soon realise is permanent.<\/p>\n<p>We order a few of the famous croissants and, while they bake, drink coffee at the\u00a0caf\u00e9\u00a0across the street. Alex begins to relate his story in English, with the thick French accent that he\u2019s known for among his mostly\u00a0Anglophone\u00a0viewers but that nevertheless vexes a few rare French\u00a0<em>r\u00e2leurs<\/em>\u00a0(grouches).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe r\u00e2leurs\u00a0say that my accent sucks,\u201d he says, laughing. \u201cThat I should just go to culinary school. That everything sucks.
