There\u2019s art everywhere \u2013 on crumbling walls, wonky lampposts and shuttered businesses. Colours pop. Paint drips. Messages ranging from the inane to the profane leap out at you. It\u2019s a mind-bending assault on the senses.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In the middle of it, sketching a lobster on a smashed-up\u00a0shopfront, is a man in paint-splattered dungarees. \u201cWe\u2019re trying to find a new identity for Athens,\u201d says Cacao Rocks, of the art scene that\u2019s flourished here since the financial crisis of 2008. \u201cWhen you think of Athens and Greece, you think of ancient art. What this country needs\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to a find a different identity and create something new.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite \u2013 or maybe because of \u2013 the financial crisis, street art is everywhere in the capital.
