Holidays in Costa Calida

Holidays in Costa Calida

The popular seaside resort of Costa Calida is a must-visit with its clean beaches, delicious food, rich Spanish culture and a jaw-dropping coastal setting. With affordable accommodation, public transport and an endless selection of attractions to be seen free of charge, your stay in Costa Calida will be both exciting and purse-friendly. Since the oceanfront hotspot is situated so close to Benidorm, you will never be far from a party.

If that’s not quite your scene, then you can escape the late-night bars and pubs of Benidorm's promenade to discover other nearby Spanish retreats. Located just up the coast is the tranquil town of Javea. Alternatively, rent a car and set off on a picturesque drive in the direction of Altea - one of the most charming towns on the West Coast.

Top Costa Calida Resorts

Torre de la Horadada

Perfectly positioned on the Orihuela Costa in the southern region of Costa Blanca, Torre de la Horadada is home to just under 3,000 inhabitants and has a slow pace, perfect for relaxation. Spend some time here if you want to enjoy quality time with the family or simply explore the natural landscape. The sandy beaches are worth visiting for some sunbathing and since Torre de la Horadada is considered one of the most beautiful seaside resorts near Costa Calida, you can bet that the scenery away from the beaches is equally as spectacular. Visit the Old Town and sightsee from the watchtower, which pirates once used to spot approaching attackers.

San Pedro

Lying on Costa del Sol's main coast is San Pedro, better known as San Pedro de Alcantara to the local people. A fairly untouched area with plenty of Spanish influences, it features a promenade lined with palm trees and a tranquil vibe. Numerous beachfront restaurants are dotted along the coast and you will hear the local people of San Pedro calling them chiringuitos. Traditional, peaceful and not too big to explore in a single day, this area near Costa Calida is far less developed than many of the surrounding resorts.

Alicante

When you are in Costa Calida, the allure of Alicante will be hard to resist. The city has a medieval vibe and some of the most best views of the Mediterranean coast, Alicante is a patchwork landscape of winding streets, ancient buildings and brightly coloured houses. The Alicante Museum of Contemporary Art can be found here, as well as the Gravina Museum of Fine Arts. The Castillo de Santa Bárbara is positioned on a hilltop and offers sweeping views of the coast.

Things to Do in Costa Calida

Exploring Costa Calida

Salinas Regional Park

The Park of Las Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar, better known as Salinas Regional Park, is a spectacular expanse of natural, protected wetland. The landscape is a portrait of beaches, dunes and salt flats. Bring a pair of binoculars to spot many species of bird in their natural habitat.

Town of Bolnuevo

This old fishing town has held onto its traditional roots, although it does cater to travellers. Located in the municipality of Mazarron, this residential complex is fairly small in size but there are many hiking and walking spots along the coast. The sheltered fishing bay has a traditional town which remains largely untouched by modern life; here you will find a selection of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. Aside from the long stretch of golden sand, beach lovers can also explore secret coves and majestic enclaves around Bolnuevo.

Castillo de Monteagudo Murcia

A Spanish palace known by the name of Castillo de Monteagudo is located in the Murcia region. In fact, its elevated position makes it a focal point for miles around. The monument demonstrates Spanish art and culture at its finest. Dating back to the 11th century, the hill-mounted castle remains in brilliant condition despite its age. Mortar and rammed chunks of earth were used to create the walls which are still standing to this day. Guided tours are available at certain times and should be arranged in advance.

Costa Calida Beaches

There is a lot to choose from in terms of beaches when you visit Costa Calida, with much of the sun-soaked sand within driving distance. Examples of the best beaches in the region include Playa de las Palmeras, Cala Cortina, La Carolina, La Azohía and the most popular urban beach in the area, Playa de Poniente.
