One of a trio of small but popular villages in the north of Malta, Qawra holidays are a popular destination for couples and families looking for a fun-filled break. Located within easy reach of St Paul’s Bay and Buggiba, Qawra’s growth began in the 1960s and it is now one of Malta’s most popular resorts.Despite being a modern hotspot, it retains much of its charm and there are still many historical buildings to marvel at.
On the whole, Qawra is rather buzzy, with plenty of lively bars and restaurants and a handful of clubs nearby. Outdoorsy types can enjoy water sports, with a range of aquatic activities on offer – the snorkelling is particularly spectacular. Culture fans will enjoy learning about the area’s history as a hub for salt production, and the striking salt pans in the aptly named Salina Bay in nearby Buggiba are well worth a visit. For a lively break in Malta with a touch of the traditional, holidays to Qawra are a strong choice.
