Conscious Hotel Westerpark

"What a brilliant hotel, in a great location overlooking the park. Gorgeous balcony, ethical features in the room, lovely and quiet with controllable heating, had a lovely 3 nights here. Breakfast is well worth paying the c20 euros for and there are some lovely bars nearby, and a little brewery just 50m away! Would definitely recommend, and would love to come back. Bike hire is really easy and had a brilliant day cycling around amsterdam."

"I stayed for two nights and, unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations, especially considering the price. To begin with the positive: the reception staff were excellent. The check-in was smooth, the young man at the desk was genuinely friendly and professional, and communication via WhatsApp was quick and helpful. That part of the service was very good. However, the main issue was the noise. There is a bar directly in front of the hotel that plays loud music late into the night. As a result, I barely slept for two consecutive nights. When paying a premium rate for accommodation, the basic expectation is rest. In this case, that was not provided. Breakfast was also disappointing. During the booking process it states breakfast runs until 11:00, but signage inside the hotel says 10:30. Because of this inconsistency, I missed breakfast on the first morning. On the second morning, although I arrived about 40 minutes before closing time, most items had already been cleared away. There were very limited ingredients left, no plates available, and the overall atmosphere felt rushed. One member of the kitchen staff was particularly rude and abrupt during our first interaction. The tone was unnecessarily harsh. When we later needed to request a simple missing ingredient, we chose not to approach him again and instead walked to the other side of the room near the entrance, where another staff member at the bar kindly assisted us. It should not feel uncomfortable to ask for basic service during breakfast. Additionally, the corridors smelled strongly of cannabis, which detracted from the overall atmosphere, even though the smell did not enter the room itself. This stay was also meant to help assess whether the hotel would be suitable for a potential professional booking. Based on this experience, I would not recommend it at this time. The lack of sleep, inconsistent information, breakfast management, and unprofessional behaviour significantly impacted the stay, despite the excellent reception service."

"As a local, i round out that the staff at the réception are very unfriendly and really only ´ Care’ about the hôtel guests. Since I know this location from the start, I have seen it changed into a very unfriendly, though disguused as cool and sexy, place to have à coffee to go. Conscious?????? Unconscious in every way."
