Hillsborough - This picture postcard town is only about 10 miles from Belfast but it feels like another world. There are lots of great bars and restaurants as well as Hillsborough Forest Park, which is a super place to go for a walk. For lunch or dinner try The Plough Inn or the Parson's Nose. Take the M1 out of Belfast and follows signs to Hillsborough.

The town of Carrickfergus is world famous for its castle. Situated in a very dramatic setting just by the seafront, there is a marina right next door. The town is only a short distance from Belfast, which makes it easy to visit in a day. Take the M2 out of the city and follow signs to Carrickfergus.
