Luxor Restaurants

Maratonga
There are quite a few cafes in front of the temple here, but this one is a favourite because of the energetic owner. Nothing is too much trouble for him, and all his dishes are made with the freshest of local ingredients.

King Tut
Despite extremely good value Egyptian and international food, well-mannered staff and spotless cleanliness, King Tut is often overlooked as it is down a flight of stairs - but don't let that put you off. Chicken cordon bleu is recommended

Address: Khalid bin Waleed St, Opposite Sonesta |

Agra Indian Restaurant
Agra's chef serves wonderfully tasty Indian food using only genuine spices shipped from India. It may be a little pricey, but you won't be disappointed. Enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail at the bar.

Address: Sheraton Luxor Resort, Al Awameya | Telephone: 095 227 4544 |

1886 Restaurant Old Winter Palace
This wonderful hotel was home to upper-class tourists in the days of Agatha Christie and Lord Carnarvon. The wines are expensive and while the food is surprisingly reasonable, this is still a special place for a special meal. Formal dress required.
