Prince of Peckham
Proudly channelling its diverse South London heritage, drinks here are mainly rum-based cocktails, with food a flavoursome fusion of Caribbean and British (think jerk Sunday roasts). DJ sets draw the coolest crowds this side of the river.

Trinity Arms
The pre-gig pack know that finding an empty bar stool in Brixton on a Friday night is as likely as getting a last-minute Academy ticket. At this little-known pub, not only will you get a seat (hurrah!), you'll get ales, roaring fires and top-notch burgers to boot.

Bar Douro
You can hear the crackling splinter on the roast suckling pig served at this Portuguese den from the other end of its blue-and-white-bedecked bar. Pull up a stool, order a flight of Port, from white to tawny, and finish with cheese and home-baked sweet crackers.

Voodoo Ray's
Dalston is the new Shoreditch: a bit grimy, with awesome dining, and banging nightlife. This latest addition brings grown-up cocktails and vinyl-spinning DJs to the main drag. It's open 'til 3am, and we'll be disappointed if you leave any earlier.
